lets see your Kydex projects

Postby LarryFlew on Thu Jul 15, 2010 10:38 am

Has anyone posted any of their projects since the Kydex purchase? Have not had time to do much but always looking for ideas. Here are my 2 very minor projects. IWB 1911 mag holder and billfold or pocket mag holder for my Kel-Tec P32. Didn't have any room anywhere for extra mag on the 32 and IWB didn't work because it is so small. Since I pocket carry the Kel-Tec why not do the same with the mag. Flat part fits into billfold or behind it. Since I keep my $$ in front pocket I rarely have to get the billfold out.

Thinkin' Pepsi holster next

Had to do a lot of filing and sanding but now the answer is no.

You could also line it with thin leather if it was a problem.

Here's one I made for my LCR. I found that a higher degree of cant makes the butt more vertical which conceals better in the tuckable IWB style I wanted. I liked the Comptac design but they didn't appear to offer the degree of cant I wanted. This was the first try and it came out pretty well. I have discovered that using a heat gun to smooth edges worked better than sanding.

I haven't figured out a good way to keep the velcro stuck on to the kydex. Adhesives don't seem to work well as you can see by the velcro sliding off the Kydex arm. I am halfway thinking about heating up the kydex and stitching it to the kydex.

Would be nice if there was an adhesive that worked well with Kydex. Thing the sewing idea is about as good as it gets for adding velcro to it. Either heat or lots of small drilled holes.

Did some experimenting last night. Appears that medium super glue works pretty good. Thin may also but I didn't have any to try. You do need to tape area beyond where the velcro will be on the Kydex or you will see white flash off of glue that is not very easy to remove from the Kydex.

Any one of you guys want to make a sheath for my Helle hunting knife? I bribe with beer. Good beer.

Beer/Pop can holder clips to belt or pocket. Kind of hybrid since I had some other plastic for the main part I didn't use up as much Kydex.

Also if anyone is looking for chicago screws or screw posts and don't want to buy hundreds try here. http://www.capaper.com/c=AHZmPOwrvfPOOv ... crewposts/
