Lone Wolf Timberwolf Glock frame

I ordered this a month ago and it came in today. It's Lone Wolf's attempt at improving the Glock frame.

My initial build is on a Glock 37, .45 GAP slide. I decided to start here since I've got a bunch of ammo made up.

Assembly went off without a hitch. I picked it up in Burnsville at 3pm today, rode home, installed frame internals, slapped the slide on, and was back at BPR by a few minutes after 4pm. I popped off 100 rounds before I had to leave for work.

My initial thoughts: I now have a half a Glock that's about as reliable as a Kimber. I am less than pleased at how the magazines fit. Some drop free, some don't. The replaceable palm swells (back straps) slide out too easily. They need a more secure fit.

I like the texture just fine, but not as much as I like Glocks rtf2 finish. I haven't decided which back strap I like better. It's hard to tell in just 100 shots.

This is a prototype frame. In fact, the serial number is Proto295. I understand that I'm a beta tester, but one would think Lone Wolf could have anticipated these issues. These issues seem to be recurring as the frames start trickling out to the public.

Anyway, more testing to be done next week. I'll be running 17, 34, 22, and 31 slides as time permits.

I like the look of that thing, did you change out the ejector like they say or did you just go with a straight 37 fcg setup? One would think that after the almost three years of babbling the LW would have come out with a better product. Are you bringing it to the GSSF shoot at OCG on Sunday? i would like to feel it up if you are.
What was the reliability issue, or was it just fit and finish issues that you had?

I'll bring it with me to OGC. It's fit/finish issue. I can MAKE it run.

I love how all the aftermarket Glock frames do away with that awful palm swell hump on the backstrap. It amazes me that Glock didn't do that with their 4th generation pistols, allowing the hump to be put back on via the replaceable backstraps if the user wanted it that way.

Of course you can't shoot production with it any more. Would it not been easier and cheaper to just buy an M&P.

I've got a house full of Glocks. The new frame cost me $80. M&P is not an option.

I swapped out the 37 slide for a 22 slide that is using a .357sig barrel & mag.

I came up with a way to keep the backstraps secure by putting a piece of folded-over industrial foam tape under the latch, basically making a spring.

Three of my five Glock 31 magazine drop free. The other two are a little sticky. I believe this to be a quality control issue with Lone Wolf''s injection mold process.

I pumped 100 full power rounds of .357sig through her. She runs like an open sore.

I have a much better feeling about the frame on day 2.

Is the drop free something you think could be solved with a couple of minutes and a safe edge file?

Isn't the frame the serial numbered part that is the 'gun', like an AR?

It looks cool, like an XD and a Glock spent the night together in a trailer behind a honkytonk bar. Do you find you need the extended beavertail much?

I can see Wolf having a real winner here if their frames turn out to be reliable. It will be cheaper than having a grip reduction that looks like someone put your gun in a microwave and you'll be able to return it to stock if you so choose.

It would be serial numbered, and would be considered a new gun, once it goes on sale, with ATF forms and PTP or carry required to buy? Gotcha.
