What is his view... Pro, Against?
I'm personally against conceal and carry.
Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent to Marty Kelly today. I'll report back when I get a response.
Officer Kelly,
With the recent Supreme Court ruling in McDonald vs. Chicago that the 2nd Amendment is binding on states and cities, how do you view the Supreme Court decision? Also what are your views on the Minnesota Personal Protection Act and its provisions since as Sheriff you would be responsible for the issuance of said permits? With your permission I would like to share your response on some forums that I participate in where the Goodhue County Sheriff's election is being discussed.

Got an answer from Marty Kelly today. There was some difficulty with the email I sent to him off of his web-site. That is the reference to "false" in the email.
Dear Chuck,
Thanks for your inquiry and I apologize for the late response, however the name “false” went directly to my spam folder, which I rarely open.
In response to your first question regarding McDonald v Chicago ruling, I was happy to hear the high court ruled in favor of McDonald, however a little too close for comfort in my opinion.
I am a strong advocate for the Minnesota Personal Protection Act and an advocate of safe, lawful and responsible firearm ownership. I believe the provisions within this Act, MSS 624.714, are reasonable and provide the government sufficient information from the applicant. I also believe that in most cases, the 30 days given to process the application could be much less if the applicant has everything in order at the time of submission. I would think that the application could be processed along with the criminal history checks much sooner than 30 days.
If you have anything further you would like to discuss regarding this issue or any other, feel free to contact me and also feel free to forward my response. I will check my spam occasionally in case you respond back.
Sincerely,
Marty Kelly
Looks like we have two candidates who will be looking to reduce turn around times on applications.
