Why do people who don't own a GAP pistol act like they're being forced to?
Move along, aren't there some kids on your lawn or something?
The 10mm and the 357 SIG are both cartridges that can do things a LOT of others can't, and the 10mm was selected by a lot of Federal and local law enforcement agencies as their official sidearm. The 357 SIG is the weapon of choice by a lot of LEO's these days, AND is the official US Sky Marshal's gun. The 10mm is very much a cult round, but EVERYBODY (including Glock!!!) pretty much offers a gun in this caliber, and the ballistics of the 10mm make both the 45 ACP and the 45 GAP look weak by comparison. The 357 SIG delivers the same terminal ballistics as the very well known and tested (on decades of bad guys) 357 Magnum 125 grain JHP round in a hicap autoloader.
The 45 GAP,on the other hand has never been show to exhibit any ballistic superiority over the 45 ACP worth talking about, and mutiple manufacturers have dropped the caliber from their line. Oh, and BTW, if you have a 45 ACP, you can switch to 45 Super and go up all the way to 41 mag terminal ballistics if the gun is set up right. There is NO magnum version of a 45 GAP. Question to the peanut gallery: Do they even offer 45 GAP in a +P loading, much less +P+??
Just for fun, why don't you name just ONE Federal, State, or local police force that has standardized on the 45 GAP??? :crickets:
Geez, you don't see me getting defensive about my collection of 41 Action Express guns, do you?? They're rather interesting historical pieces that got wiped off the face of the Earth by the 40 S&W, but they're still fun to shoot. And unlike the 45 GAP, the 41AE DID offer a very unique way of going from a 9mm pistol up to a 41 caliber weapon that at the time had a great deal or relevance to IMPROVED performance for civilians and LEO's.
So get off MY lawn, kid.
