I truly believe this is one of the stupidest statements EVER made. This statement is in line with the anti's telling us that we are all going to be killed with our own weapons in a self defense situation

This same line of thinking also leads me to believe that we should all scrap our lead projectiles for rubber ones.

It's a common saying(http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=40348&start=50, and it's purpose (IMHO) is more to remind you to be ever vigilant vs saying that nobody can handle firearms. The same thing could be said about traffic accidents and drivers.

It's the kind of mantra that makes me always check the chamber, and use two hands when decocking. I am ABLE to get by remembering if it is loaded and using one hand to decock, but I choose to stack the deck in my favor. ;)

Inexperience shooters seem to make bold statements based on no experience, just because you don't trust yourself doesn't mean others can't operate a firearm safely.

Ok so maybe I should have thought more about it before I posted. So enlighten me. I just don't see how having a round in the chamber and pulling the trigger while holding onto the hammer can be safe. Isn't there a big risk of slipping on the hammer and having the gun discharge. It seems like something that is practiced by many people. I'll use the CZ75b as an example. With a loaded magazine, I rack the slide, grab the hammer and pull the trigger. With the trigger pulled and holding on to the hammer I lower the hammer half way. Once I start to move the hammer do I let go of the trigger or do I have to keep it pulled while lowering the hammer? How do you know when you are half way? If my fingers on the hammer do slip the gun will discharge right? I want to try and take me being not so smart and posting before I know all the facts and learn something here. So please teach me.

Well, nothing is safe, from firearms to walking outside. It's all about your comfort level and skill level with things. I do the manual decock so rarely that i'm not about to go around doing it fast and flippant with one hand (and my short thumbs  ) sans mega practice, but that's just me. Brado probably can do it in his sleep (but has a hard time dropping magazines in that gun ;) ) :bolt:

As far as your technical question, I always hold the trigger down the whole time so I don't nick my sear on the safety hooks. Thats my 1911 though, YMMV. :)

As soon as the hammer starts to move forward, release the trigger. This will activate the "b" for firing pin block in your CZ75b. After you release the trigger, your gun will no longer be able to fire (assuming it is in good condition and in good working order).

But still, it's a 20 lb spring. It's not stronger than you are.

A 40cal is still my favorite handgun round, but I don't get to shoot as much of it with the cost difference vs. 9mm. I love my XD40 (standard model), and the M is supposed to be like my gun with sugar on top. Sounds beautiful. I've met people with the XD9 that are happy too though. Is this purchase for love or money?

A real man's John Browning certified gun doesn't NEED any firing pin blocks! Internal safety mechanisms are for pansy eurotrash hardware!

I had an ND once when I was a teenager, but there were extended circumstances.

I should also add after more research and gun handling I have slimed the list down even farther. I still haven't decided between 9mm and 40S&W. I am leaning towards 9mm.

-CZ 75 B 9mm or 40S&W

-CZ 75 BD 9mm

-Sig P226 9mm or 40S&W

-Armscor 9mm 1911 Tactical (With the $50 of smith work from Ryan at Bill's in Robbinsdale

DAMMIT just buy the 1911 already! :D

All the other guns you will just shoot a couple times and be like, "meh", where the 1911 can be your baby, you will buy it presents like pretty grip panels, various thumb safeties, tungsten guide rods, etc. And it's AMERICANA baby!

(technically armscor is from the Philippines, but it's J.M.B.'s gun all the same) ;)

I disagree.

Yes, the 1911 is superior, in every way imaginable.

But "absence makes the heart grow fonder". It's not until you dick around all them other lame euro-trash (thanks, SG!) pistols, and THEN try a 1911 ... and not some friggin' cheapo with edges like a razor and a spur-hammer that chews up yer hand worse then 20 failures to decock the thing ... it's not until then, that ya realize, jest what ya got.

Although, as has been pointed out in 'nother thread, if P226's are goin' fer $900+, riddle me this ... why the **** would anyone be passin' on a purdy nice 1911? (hint: not Armscor) Image

You always get right to the point. I wish more people posted like that.

The version I remember went something along the lines of "there are two types of people that will have a ND, ****ing idiots that don't know any better, and people that know what they are doing."

Also, as I understand it, the CZ's without the de-cocker, are popular in USPSA because you can get a better trigger job out of it without the de-cocker.
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.
