Thanks, I need to remember to zip up my fly. Not enough time betwen strings.
I also couldn't thank Mark and the other volunteers enough. The weather was PERFECT and so were the facilites. The volunteers that came out to teach were top notch. Everyone there was helpful and made it a fun, low stress environment, which made it easy to learn. I haven't had that much fun shooting a rifle since I last qualified at Parris Island eleven years ago. Shooting the Garand was a little frustrating though. I couldn't seem to find a tight position that wouldn't be blown to hell and back every time I pulled the trigger. That made the rapid fire string interesting. I didn't get all my shots off in the prone and the results from the sitting position looked like I used a shotgun because I didn't want to run out of time. The standing portion was great for the first three shots but I was so drained after that I was suprised I even hit the targets with the last seven rounds. I could have done much better with my AR but it was an absolute blast with the M1. I had a permagrin for the rest of the day.
Thanks again!
I now need to find someone to carpool with for the Tuesday night league!
