Hello from washington State...kind of

Postby ricks8251 on Fri Jun 24, 2011 6:56 am

Hello all,
I am currently in Japan, stationed in washington state. I retire from the Navy in about a year and a half and plan on moving to southern MN. I just found this sight, belong to one simular in washington and figured I would get on here and start getting to know some people in the state before I move there.

I guess for me it will be my 1st career. 20 years is long enough, while still allowing me to be some what competetive in the civilian job market. Also pretty tough on the family life. This is my 11th deployment, granted most were only 6 months but throw in schools and random 2 month trips and it adds up to way to much time away from loved ones to go on any longer.

Welcome aboard. Thank you for your service. :salute: :flag:

Gonna SWAG it here.... based in WA - you're either a bubblehead, or you're based out of NAS Whidbey Is, which would most likely put you in one of the Aviation Electronic Warfare squadrons.

Your right on the NASWI, but there are 4 differnt types of squadrons there right now. I have never been on a sub, or even a ship in the last 14 years. The only time I have seen these contraptions is while flying over them, I'm a FE on P3's.

Welcome to the board and a preemptive welcome for when you move to MN. I have to say that I would have a hard time leaving that area of WA. Love to get in and explore around that area. Unfortunately it has been about 10 years or so since I have had the chance to get over that way.
