Should have picked up a Norinco. :) <note - this is a rip on myself per a different thread, not a jab at you or your purchase>

Congrats, while a startling departure from your original shopping list and budget it sounds like you got a gun you like for a good price and are happy with the purchase which is really all that matters. The central american/south american made 1911's get you a lot of bang for the buck, post a range report if you get a chance - I'd love to hear how this performs.

I would change those grips out personally. ;) Then you have a good looking shooter!

Learn how to work on it yourself, then when you get more intimately acquainted you will know what you like for when you buy your Springfield.

That's pretty much what I am thinking. An unexpected vet cost for one of the pooches put a dent in my firearm fund, so I went less expensive. I may even try tinkering with it a bit to learn more about the platform. That wasn't what I originally inteneded to do with it, but for what it cost I'm not to worried about ruining anything :). This will give me a chance to know what I really want or am capable of doing myself.

I'll get a Ed Brown or Les Baer some other day :)

Taken it to the range a couple of times so far, and it shoots better than I can aim it so far...

You know thats been true with every gun I've ever bought. I'd like to be able to outshoot a gun someday before I die. Just one time!

Congrats on the new 1911. Get some grips that you like, and shoot the heck out of it. Learn to shoot well with this 1911, and your next one will be just that more awesome to shoot. I already have a set of VZ grips on my Springfield, and love them!
