Is it because I recently got my carry permit and am noticing all these stories or are shootings on the rise in MN?

This is a good reason to always carry when able.

Police are looking for a black male with dreadlocks who was wearing a gray hoodie and stocking cap and driving a white 1990s Pontiac Trans Am or similar car with blue flames or decals on the sides and hood.

If the police can't catch him with this detailed of a description.... How many bob marley's driving cannonball run mobiles are there?

Cedar lake road? Just when you thought the suburbs were safe....

Not really on the rise, someone else can chime in with statistics though. I take this to be a prime example of why I carry to/from work or outings -- you get home and surprise a burglary in progress.

This is all I found, and it looks like it's only through '97: http://www.mnplan.state.mn.us/cj/homdoc.html

I'd like it if someone could post a statistics link of some sort. I'm sure I'm just noticing all these now because of new new awareness to these sorts of happenings.

haha seems I see someone with that description almost daily! That reminds me of whenever you hear about a crime on the news where police are looking for someone, the newscasters tell us to be on the look out for a late 90's white minivan...wow what a great description. Doesn't anyone know the makes and models of cars? Just my .02

Statistically that is true, but I'd rather have the option to comply or not, instead of having no choice.

I'm assuming you know this, but I'll just throw it out there since it's hard to read tone, but that was sarcasm. :) I agree.
