Intratec Protec .25

Postby MsT on Sun Oct 28, 2007 8:19 am

Can anyone help me find information on Intratec (particular model a Protec .25).

A friend lost her husband and found one of these gun in a drawer - no owner's manual. I've tried the internet and it looks like they were only manufactured a few years, and I thought it KelTec now had something to do with them, but their customer service says no.

I found a picture of the gun at http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/ga ... 0/1506.htm, and some information at ttp://www.vpc.org/studies/smalint.htm, but nothing that says "contact us".

I'm not sure that this is even the right or same company,
but it looks like they were more known for the TEC-9 and Saturday night specials,
but their last known info was:

Intratec Firearms

Miami,, FL 33186
305-232-1821

I hadn't heard of the TEC-9 until I started looking and talking to people.

I'm just looking for an owner's manual.

Thought someone might have one I could photo-copy.

On this board, listed below, they discuss the Intratec Protec .25 as the same as or similar knock-off of the CZ 45. There is also a guy on there Otto N Sure that has a manual for the Intratec Protec .25 (bottom of page). There is also a guy that describes takedown.

Heres a link to a pic. http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/ga ... 0/1506.htm

as far as i can determine, its a very risky proposition whether the weapon will even fire, it seems they run along the lines of intermittent operation to none at all.

I recall selling one or two of these before we decided that was a market we did not want to get in on, and refused to order more. They fall below a jennings or a phoenix in quality.

Has the manual for just about every gun I have heard of.

Good luck.

You might also want to pass on to your "friend" that if she's looking for a cheap, unreliable gun that probably won't even slow down an attacker if the gun actually fires, then she would be hard pressed to find something that could place her life in greater danger than this gun. This is, flat out, a piece of junk that needs to be destroyed before it gets some uninformed person killed. Take it apart, and throw the pieces in different places. The ONLY reason you would want to find a manual for this gun would be so that you could take it apart, and throw the parts away...

I have an Intratec Protec .25, took it to the range a few times, worked fine. Very easy to field strip and clean, I had the box and manual about 15 years ago, but lost them over time. A Protec .25 is better than nothing, but I now own Kel-Tec's .32ACP and .380's which are a bit lighter than the Intratec. :gun:
