AR15 trigger/pin/receiver hole size question

Postby 45Badger on Sun May 13, 2012 5:26 pm

The situation-

I have a jewel trigger in a preban colt receiver. I have a single stage factory trigger in a RRA lower. I want to swap triggers, sell the Colt receiver. I know the pins and receivers are different sizes.

The question - Can I do this? Do the triggers care what size pins are used? Thanks!

I thought it was the post-ban Colt's that went to the .170--pre-ban Colt's and other brands stuck with the .154 trigger pin size.

They put sear blocks and large pins in pre-1994 ban.

Still need an answer from the gurus 8-)

The triggers "do" care what size pins are used. Pretty safe bet the RRA is using the .154 pins, so if the Colt lower is using the .170 pins a swap won't work. You could push the pins out a little ways and use a micrometer to double check the pins sizes. But that Jewel trigger will only work with .170 pins is that is what is made for.

Won't work. I've seen people not knowing any better do it by accident. The result is always a non-functioning or severely malfunctioning gun.

Thanks Guys. I have a good plan "B". I'll put the Jewell in one of my other pre-ban Colts and put the stock trigger in the lower I'm gonna sell.
