Need help finding a 10mm pistol.

Postby RyanTV on Tue Sep 04, 2012 11:38 am

So I just received about 600 rounds of 10mm for free and now I need to find a decent pistol that it can go with. Any suggestions out there EAA is definitely out of the picture. Thanks for any ideas.

10mm ammo with no pistol... man, that sucks. guess is hould jsut do you a solid and take all that heavey ammo just takin up space at your place off your hands. i won't even charge you the $10 disposal fee that's how cool a guy i am... :D

in all seriousness though, pick whatever your favorite pistol platform is and get a 10 mm in it. your options are basically going to be a glock or 1911 variant. you can always go the contender route or soemthing goofy too. i got me a glock 20. have some 20 round gas tanks for it too. love it. ;)

but seriously though - i'll take that ammo off your hands for you if you need me too :? ....
i do what i can, where i'm needed, and i ask so little in return. i'm a true humanitarian fueled by rainbows and whiskey. you should be so lucky to know me...

I like all my Glocks but it just seems as if the 20/20sf just are not my type of gun. I really want to get a 1911 10mm but have not really found one that is up to the level I want, Kimbers are nice but I want something a little better. Thanks for the offers but I am going to hold onto the ammo for now.

I live in Cambridge and have an EAA in 10mm. LOVE the gun not sure why it is out of the question for you. If you want you can come on up here we can go to the range and you can try it out.

if you're looking for a 1911 with a higher level of quality than a Kimber (which won't be TOO hard), you should look at the Dan Wesson line. i saw a gentleman on Sunday at the range with a 10mm Wesson commander-size with an Ed Brown bobtail MSH. pretty cool gun!
they also made (and i think are bringing back) a full size, stainless 10mm 1911 called the Razorback.

here's a CBOB on Gunbroker

600 rounds of 10mm for free is like two ounces of black tar heroin for free. Do you really want ANOTHER addiction?? If you don't handload, you're screwed because you'll have to buy pricey but watered down crap that's barely more powerful than 40 Short & Weak, or go Super pricey for the good stuff from CorBon or Doubletap. If you do handload, then you're in pretty good shape, and those 600 cases will last a while. And I'm not so sure I'd want to shoot Norma factory spec full power 10mm in a Glock because part of the case isn't supported. Dunno why you don't want an EAA, as they are the cheapest entry point in an all steel gun, and apart from that anything you buy will be over a Grand.

Let's break out the old calculator here:

Cost of 600 rounds of 10mm ammo for free: $0.00 per round

Cost of 50 rounds of American Eagle 10mm ammo $29.99 - $0.60 per round

Cost of 600 rounds of free 10mm ammo factoring in cost of $1,000 gun to shoot it: $1.66 per round

So that "free" ammo is costing you a $1.06 a round EXTRA over list to get a gun to shoot it. And that's for the watered down crap, too...

Good points!

To the OP you should listen to this. Tell ya what I will take it and save you $1.06 per round. Deal?

If not, does S&W still make that wheel gun in 10mm? Always thought that would be a fun woods gun, can shoot .40 to for plinking. Just a thought on a different way to go with this.

The revolver in question is the Smith 610, and if it's got the same great trigger as most Smiths, it would be a workable way to go.

good call!
or maybe the 310 Nightguard? it'll shoot 40 as well (so will the 610, though). with a stack of moon clips in your range bag, you'd be king ding-a-ling!
