How long to recieve PTP?

Postby blacktornado11 on Fri Sep 14, 2012 3:14 pm

I submitted my paperwork for my permit to purchase today! Now my question to all of you. How long did it take you to receive your permit after you put in your request?
Mods may move as they see fit, I didn't see a better place

I am in Isanti County and I think my PTP was like a week. My PTC was 7 days exactly to show up at my house.

The law says it must be issued within 7 days.

Many police and sheriff departments ignore the 7 days and take as long as they want. You really have no recourse if they do.

Carver county was about 7 days the second time... first time was denied due to paper work error on there end so it took close to 3 weeks total. I have to admit they were very apologetic when I pointed out there error and were also very easy to deal with.

Saint Paul Police - I dropped it off Monday, had it in Wednesdays mail. Only snag is the lady said I had to fill out the form there, not use the one I had already printed out??? After checking with her supervisor, that made-up rule went away.

Lakeville took 14 days from submission to arrival via USPS for me when I applied. I thought that was funny because when I applied for my PTC it took Dakota County 13 days, and there was a holiday in that time frame.

Bloomington says 7-10 business days and took every bit of it. Mine was mailed on the 10th business day.

When I first applied at Lakeville it took 2 weeks, every renewal after that took about a week. For my PTC from Dakota it took 30 days. I think depending on when you apply for your PTP at Lakeville may have something to do with the time as well. towards the end of the year that same Sgt. is in charge of all the budgeting for the PD.

Back when I used to get that permit annually, the Champlin PD would ALWAYS get it out to me via US Mail in two days. I haven't gotten one in several years, however.
