Finished my AR pistol (almost)

Postby sochr000 on Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:52 am

So, after a little over a year of thinking, looking, and asking questions, my AR pistol build is 99% complete! A big thanks to Ken from Atomictactical, he answered all manner of questions(when he should have probably just told me to check google...), finally building the upper for me.

The second pic is how I got it from Ken, and the first pic is of it assembled.

Parts used:
PWS lower (blemished)
Spike's upper
BCM mod4 charging handle
VLTOR CASV-MG handguard
A2 flash hider
YHM 10.5" chrome lined bbl
Assorted lower parts, but mostly DPMS
ACE pistol buffer assembly
Magpul trigger guard and MOE grip (Foliage green)
EoTech 552
Streamlight TR-2

The pad is missing, although I have it just haven't installed it yet. What I am missing is a takedown pin and the BCG assembly

I "Borrowed" a BCG from another AR, so for all intents and purposes, it's close to complete.

Nice build. Maybe a paracord wrap on the buffer tube would look sweet. Also its best not to use different bolts on different barrels, the carrier is ok just be sure to have a separate bolt for each barrel to avoid headspacing issues.

The buffer tube came with a foam pad, but since I'm missing the takedown pin, I haven't put the pad on, since the buffer tube will have to come off to get the detent and spring in. The headspacing is within acceptable tolerances, and I will check the bolt before it goes back into its normal gun, but thanks for the concern.
