Looking for a gunsmith...

Postby SkyRock on Fri Oct 19, 2012 4:18 pm

Can anyone recommend a Ruger revolver knowledgeable gunsmith? Prefer within 50 ( ) miles of Burnsville, but closer would be nice.

Thanks.

+1, unless he's after custom work. Ruger sends everything back out to factory specs.

Bob at Ahlman's has done triggers on my sp101 and super blackhawk. Did a fantastic job, very happy with his work.

Shoulda been more specific.

I want to convert a GP100 and SP101 to DAO, smooth the triggers, chamfer the cylinders, and ???, for carry and competition. Wheelguns are a new world for me, so I'm really ignorant (more so than normal). After all, it's technology that was patented the year the Alamo fell!

fer chamfering, maybe check with John P.? ;) ... might be a good one fer the trigger, too ... though, I can't say whether er not if he's ever had a Ruger apart?!

... there's also Ahlman's, but they can be hit er miss! :|

I was thinking either bob the hammers, or replace them with DAO-only ones.

John P? Why does that sound familier?

I probably do...just a case of brain fade. :( A PM would be appreciated.

Usually no hammer spur, and no single action notch. On a SP101, the factory DAO hammer probably looks better than removing the hammer spur...I think.

You could also talk to Ryan at Bill's, he's quite handy with a wheelgun
