Problems with armslist denizen

Postby CarRacer on Mon Oct 22, 2012 5:31 pm

I have a listing on Armslist currently and am having a problem with a guy on there. I forgot to put that I wanted to see a permit in the ad but asked about it when he contacted me. He didn't like that, wanted to do a "private straw sale" which i turned down and now I just got three phone calls from this idiot.

Anything I can do about it?

Problems with armslist denizen

If your phone is jail broken then download iBlacklist. Love this app!

Otherwise add his number to your contacts and give him a silent ringtone. This will still allow the calls to come through, but will silence the ring so you won't even notice. To set this up, download this iPhone silent ringtone:

http://www.iphonefaq.org/files/silent_ringtone.m4r

(be sure to right-click or cmd-click and "Save As"), import it into iTunes, and sync it to your iPhone. On your iPhone, add the number you want to block/silence to your contacts and set the silent ringtone as that contact's custom ringtone.

I've only sold one gun, a sig p250 pile of junk, on armslist ever......the buyer was clean as far as I could find out on mncriminals.com......it's a free criminal record lookup site for MN........and I asked for his drivers license for I.d. & he volunteered his permit to purchase.....That was good enough for me at the time.

If I would have got a bad vibe or any harassing phone calls, it would have resulted in me calling the authorities.
Anti-gun goofs fail to realize that if they melt every gun on the planet & I want you dead, a claw hammer would do the trick!! Then what? Ban claw hammers?

Call from someone else's phone.
Say something like
"Hey man, this is your boy Jimmy. I'm in a real bind man..."

Or some other lines you heard in a movie/TV show. It would be hilarious to confuse the person. If you have more time on your hands than most I suppose.

Also that phone number pulls this up on Google.

Or.....just sell it to him. You made a your sale conditional, he found an entirely legal way to meet your condition (unless you are an ffl). Your condition of ptc/ppt is extra-legal, and unnecessary for anything but your peace of mind/warm fuzziness.

Yea, I didn't know there was a such thing as a "straw sale" when it came to private parties.

There's not but it was the best way to describe it. I was thinking about doing that but something didn't seem right to me. I don't think calling the ATF tips line is correct either as no laws were broken, even if I did choose to make the sale.

One thing you may want to consider is "Google Voice." Google voice gives you a phone number for free that is forwarded to the number of your choice. You have more flexibility using a Google Voice account, like the ability to block numbers. Another benefit when advertising online, the google voice number is not tied to your financial accounts.
