Wow....4 gun stores and LIMITED semi-auto rifles

Started out at Bills in Robbinsdale. Strike one. Went to Frontiersman...strike 2 (although they had a decent looking CETME on the wall). Drove up to Cabelas (during rush hour and while it was snowing), strike 3. Checked out Fleet Farm...foul tip? FF had 3 VEPRs (2 in 5.45x39 and 1 in 7.62x39), but according to the salesman, VEPRS are limited to 10 round magazines. It's not like I haven't been paying attention to the buying spree, but dang! Really? And all on the day when my wife said I could go out and buy a rifle. I'm feeling stupid, frustrated and like I wanna have a huge temper-tantrum. I thought that SOMEONE would have a SOCOM or a M1A, or at the very least, a decent WASR. But noooooooooo!

Similar story in Blaine. I was at Gander, Capras, and Fleet Farm....no ARs, no AKs, no mags, and only capras had any .223, and hardly any

Was an M1a standard at gander for only $1800... When people figure out 308 is cheaper to shoot and easier to find than 223 in the current market I am sure the battle rifle supply will also dry up.

Fleet Farm in Owatonna had one Ruger Mini-14 in the case and 3 VEPRS . 1 in 5.45 x 39,1 in .223 and 1 in 7.62 x 39

I'm just glad I got all my rifles well before the madness. I was ready before the '08 rush.

The only thing I really need is ammunition. Fortunately, I have a stash and some reloading components so I can last until after the rush has settled down, hopefully.

Thanks for the heads up, Angus! Gunstop had some nice choices today. Ended up not getting a rifle from them, though, because they had a used S&W Thunder Ranch that I just had to have. So my wife and I leave Gunstop (thanks, Larry) and head up to Bills in Robbinsdale to shoot the new .45 and my Christmas present (Gen 4 Glock 19). We finish shooting, go upstairs and BADDA-BING! There's a brand new, shiny Inter Ordinance AK on the wall. Nuthin' fancy, just a Sporter. The price was good so we grabbed it. A very productive day! It's a little disappointing that I couldn't find "THE" rifle I was looking for, but there's always next year.
