Frontiersman on gunshows

Postby Rem700 on Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:52 am

Anyone catch the local news last night I only caught the tale end not even sure which channel it was.
Intereview with owner of Frontiersman about gunshows, from the little bit I saw it came across as thowing gunshows under the bus but I only saw the last couple of minutes.

Why wouldn't he, they directly compete with him.
I will never apologize for being an American.

I dont do gun shows but I do private sales from time to time and then use the money to buy new, If this was the case of throwing private sales under the bus I know where I wont be buying new.

Back in Pennsyltucky, the best gun shops in the area brought a significant part of their inventory to the shows. They did not view shows as competition, but rather a way to get their stuff thousands of people in two days. Some of those are going to end up as new/regular customers of the shop. I think there is a much stronger and larger "gun culture" in PA than MN, so the qualified demand probably made it worth the effort.

One of our areas oldest gun shops goes to gun shows and sets up a booth, not sure how it's competition unless you just don't want to get involved - in that case it's your own fault.

One of our board regulars was approached there yesterday for an interview on "assault weapons". By his ***** ass declined.

I'd reserve judgement until I could see the entire interview. Context is everything.

Frontiersman on gunshows

Postby adoptedson on Fri Jan 18, 2013 2:27 pm

I saw it. He was asked how he felt about gun shows. He said they don't really affect them because items at shows are usually overpriced. He said they were busier on weekends during gun shows because of this. He said he didn't like that licensed dealers at shows have to call in background checks while regular joe's that have tables don't.

Not a bad interview. He explained the process of how one could acquire a gun from them and the paperwork involved. He explained the differences in the process between long guns and pistols/military styled semi-autos.

Interviewer asked if people get angry if they are denied a purchase. Also asked what would happen if they would make a big sale even if a buyer was denied, just to make a big sale. He explained it was a felony to do so and that they would lose their license.

I know who you're talking about and always make a point to stop at their table. Good people.
