You could let them know that by not allowing guns they open themselves up to a lawsuit if something were to happen and you were not able to defend yourself because you were not allowed to carry in that store.

That sounds like a test case because you're basically saying that 2A rights over-ride the right of a business or home owner to control guns on their own property. That's an entirely different topic (and should be thread) as well.

+1 as well. "X is X" bugs me. People don't walk around saying "Air is air" do they? No. WHY the need for "concealed is concealed" and who cares if one conceals or open carries as long as it's legal? I'm just glad they carry. Maybe I should say "open is open", but that'd be lame.

Ski_Doctor wrote:Sadly in the last month I've seen more 'Posted - no weapons allowed' signs popping up around town. Some in restaurants, some churches, some in random haircut salons.

Unfortunately one of my favorite home-brew/wine supply shops (it has Midwest in their name) either posted a new sign, or moved it to a more prominent location. I've been there dozens of times and never recalled seeing a sign there before.

Yes I know, alcohol and guns don't mix (not should they). This is Simo a store that sells supplies for making beer and wine at home.

Sadly I may have to take my business elsewhere....

http://www.brewngrow.com not posted. Spring Lake Park, right off 65 and county 10. Not posted.

Not nessasarily. By deciding to be in a business and therefore open to the public they take on a certain risk, hence why they need to have various insurance coverages. Their property rights only extend so far.

Can you cite some legal precedent for that. Seems like the bad guy is responsible for the bad guy's actions, not some merchant.
You are responsible for your safety. Don't go to unsafe places.

Not saying they are or they are not however there have been lawsuites filed and amounts paid out to families of victims of shootings by the businesses the owned them so to state that as a business open to the public you do not have some risk liability is just plain wrong.

Unless that store is Costco or some other posted place with a safe on sale... for example, then principals go to the wayside until the next time.

In short, I've recently learned here that those 'principals' are only followed in the format of looking like you have principals, until it's just not that convenient.

I'll make an effort to avoid certain places, but if I really like the place that is posted I've written them a nice letter. I haven't seen any changes, but at least they are aware.

I have open carried at the Costco in Maplewood. No issues. This last summer.

Nope, read and particpated in the entire thread. No one cares that you open carry, you merely flipped out when several people gave you several arguments against OC.

I didn't flip out at all, but you're entitled to your opinion.
