I went; full house, I would guess 80% there on our side (probably 50-60 people). nothing groundbreaking; only took questions for 35-40 min. The first 20 was spent on introductions.
As expected her position is "common sense measures", while still respecting duck hunters and such (one OGC member who was there expressed the same sentiment, in favor of strict capacity limits. Even showed an ad from an nra magazine for a scary black .22 caliber gun with a long magazine sticking out the bottom of it- shame on you. :stinkeye: ).

I didn't get a chance to ask anything. Didn't know what to expect as far as format, and spent too much time trying to reconfigure what I wanted to say. bummer, hopefully she'll have another one of these, or even the state reps. I'd really love another shot at discussing this issue in a public forum with betty our any dfl rep.

Hate to say it but your wasting your time if you think Betty will listen to you.
She will never change. The only thing you could do is move out of her district.

I was there as well.. it was like EastSideRich said....80% 2A people, 1 Fudd. A big turn out from Oakdale Gun Club- at least 1/2 the crowd, judging by the nods and applause at times. McCollom was about as dismissive of the turn out as she could be without going overboard "... I realize how the power of social media can muster a big turn out at a short notice, and I want to have a dialog about the Second Amendment, but there are other topics to discuss..."

When she responded to questions concerning her stance on gun bans she opened her replies with: we need/ it's important/ I want- to have a dialog about the Second Amendment,... and then promptly changed the subject to what ever other point or question was raised.
She frequently tooted her own horn for having the in person meeting, as she pointed out, many other politicians started doing teleconference town meetings in the aftermath of the Gabby Gifford shooting. She did say she felt safer in the Oakdale City Hall than hosting a meeting at a shopping center. I asked why she felt that way, but she didn't answer...

Good observation ED. None of her answers really said much more than "there needs to be a discussion", she just never got to the discussion part.
Somewhat evasive answers, especially when pressed on why she saw fit to go after specific platforms (like the AR).

Someone should have asked her "what she intended to do to specifically protect and defend the second amendment of the constitution and make sure our right to keep and bear arms will not be infringed"

You'd have to see her in action first and then, before you spoke- decide you wouldn't really totally launch about what an uniformed, and irrational maroon she was, ...just sayin'
I think I got dumber just being in the same room with her.

There's a chance this meeting might show up somewhere- either muni/ public access cable TV, or youtube. There was both a guy who appeared to know what he was doing, taking up prominent isle space with a tripod mounted camera, as well as a woman in the back of the room getting it all on her phone...

she is a joke, take a look at her donors, most of them are not even in her district so she sticks her nose in other peoples business in other districts. Because she is the classic politician her town meetings do not mean anything they are just more smoke and mirrors. not even worth your time.

She's never going to support a 2A position. No surprises there.
