1.37 is where the lee 300 blackout trimmer puts them. Not my picture of the loaded ones so have no idea on the crimp. Pic is from a guy that has been shooting his blackout for a while and was to show me the differences in 110,125 and 150. Have not loaded any yet.

But 1.37 would be consistent with a 300/221 chamber as they are chambered to 1.40 IIRC

Given the longer leade, and the fact the round headspaces on the shoulder - without actually casting the chamber (something I'd like to do), it's hard to say what is really too long. Some guys are finding they're sticking rounds if their brass is too long though. It acts like a roll crimp when the bolt slams shut. While that might not be overtly dangerous, it's certainly not ideal.

JJ is correct though - .002 isn't likely to matter. What I was getting at was the fact your brass will grow the first time you shoot it, and then it'll be doubly as over length. Larry has told me he's working on the blackout spec, so that's why I pointed that out. Hornady has a new load section in the updated manual which covers both whisper and blackout, and they fail to call out the spec for the blackout.

If the length is not that critical to begin with it gets even easier. I am going to cut some shorter and see if I can get reliable lengths without trimming.

Set jig back a bit and did trial run of 10. Without trimming (4) 1.363, (4) 1.360, (1) 1.359 and (1) 1.357. Was hoping for better (like no trimming at all) but not bad. Easier than cutting back as far as I was having to do to get them at consistent 1.67.

Also ordered a factory crimp die just to be very consistent when I do get around to loading and shooting. Wish the shooting would be coming up sooner but that's what slow healing will do for ya :x beats the dirt nap by a LOT

Anyone having any problems with any particular magazines? Read a couple of no feed problems out there with some mags.

The only feeding issues I've had were with the 100gr plinkers Oldman gave me. They'd make it up the ramps, but only if you whacked them a couple times with the bolt.

If you're loading too long, you can hit the ribs in the front of the pmags. Most loads are 2.100" and under for that reason.

Anyone tried swaging jacketed 7.62 (.311) to 308 since there seem to be a lot of those out there in 123 grn?

There's a link over on 300BLKTalk forum about guys running pulled AK bullets, both resized and at .311 and (I believe) they found that there was no difference in accuracy and no pressure issues.

You would have to search for the thread, though. I lost the link I had to it.

Lots and lots of guys have found no trouble running the .311 pulls without issue. The issues with accuracy and those bullets came from the folks who resized them down. The 123gr weight doesn't sound familiar though. I think they're running the longer heavier bullets.

Guys are also having good success with the 147gr M80 pulled bullets. I haven't tried them yet, but it's part of my reason for working on 150gr loads instead of 125's first.
