You need to contact your local reps for that as well as the Public Safety Committee members.

Don't be so quick to dismiss the value our US reps here. Politics is a game of elbow-rubbing, schmoozing 'old boys' club. The MN and US elected officials DO talk to each other and DO influence each other. A 'suggestion' from a US Senator to a MN Rep or Senator carries weight. Politics is about planning for future actions and elections and if a US Senator says "this is a losing proposition" it will be heard. I'm not saying we can get our DFL Senators to that point, but anything we can do to make our case with ALL elected officials is important to do.

Yes, we need to keep up the pressure. The difference between victory and defeat is often measured in inches.

When writing to your representative, the best letter or e-mail is very short and clear.

Most legislators just don't have time to read through long-winded discourses to see if they understand your position. Ironically, the more you write, the less likely it is that your point will come across.

I would also counsel against any kind of threat, such as "I won't vote for you next time." They've heard it all before, and such statements will only make your letter seem like it was written by someone they shouldn't listen to anyway.
"Ooops!"

**** letters. We need to march on St Paul and make ourselves HEARD not read.

Unless you're willing to get out of your office chair and put down the keyboard you're doing nothing. Letters go in the trash, emails get deleted.

We quote those glorious infallible "founding fathers" so often in our pursuit of uninfringed Second Amendment rights yet fail to follow their example.

How many letters did they send to King George? Ok, maybe a couple before bullets flew, but I hope you understand my point.

Letters, emails, faxes, and calls are effective means of contact if you are unable to show up in person. I agree that showing up in person for hearings, gatherings, and demonstrations are also valuable.

But her and Franken are two of only twenty reps that are signed on to the Feinstein bill. It's embarrassing that of only twenty representatives attaching their names to that garbage, two of them are our reps.

She may employ doublespeak and obfuscation in her replies to us, but the fact she hasn't withdrawn her support for an unpopular piece of legislation tells me all I need to know.

Franken and Klobuchar are on the Judiciary Committee that will initially hear the S.150 bill and decide to send it to the Senate for a vote or kill it in committee.

Bring the pressure to bear in DC as well as locally in St. Paul.

Just another example of the federal government messing with state affairs.

Gawd these guys really need a refresher course on the US Constitution.

Wherein the Constitution is coming to a state to advocate for a political topic prohibited?
To the two forum members who have used lines from my posts as their signatures, can't you quote Jesse Ventura or some other great Minnesotan instead of stealing mine? - LePetomane

And how should this even be considered a political topic? It is a US Constitutional topic. Should we even be questioning this? Should freedom of speech be a political topic? Answer is no. But leave it to the Libtards.
