Sure. Probably no question could be found that's easier. Even some of the knuckle-draggers in the Tea Party are beginning to figure it out......they just keep doing it because they're mean, stubborn and don't want to admit they've been wrong.

At its essence, the phenomenon can be described as this: uneducated and Fox News brainwashed poor people kissing the asses of the rich and letting vulnerable neighbors suffer and die.

The mechanism is this: these dupes are manipulated (with primitive religion and fear and jingoism) into voting for sleazy politicians whose only job is to cut taxes for the rich, cut programs for the poor and cut money for infrastructure, education, health care, highways, bridges and public services (leaving both the poor and the Middle Class with less and the rich with more--lately--A LOT MORE).

Lately, in fact, they even want to take our Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and retirement checks and leave the elderly to abject poverty with no medical care. Yes, it's true. The rich are that greedy and the Tea Party dupes are that stupid.

Sure, they're only a small group, but they can control political primaries in backward Republican Congressional Districts (and even a few similarly-brained Senate Districts) and thus put politicians in fear of a primary challenge from an even farther right challenger who could take their jobs.

So, the Tea Party can't actually DO anything legislatively, they're too small.......but they can STOP government, cause gridlock and freeze up government so that we can't get legislation passed--and they happily do that, I guess because they're so ignorant that they can't see that they're causing serious problems for America.

They're doing it today. And they're so damned dumb that they're congratulating themselves.

You are damn right I want to take those things away...THEY are broke...all of them. Ok, if you want them....pay for them, now you will say that we just tax the rich but as I pointed out earlier...and you didn't respond to...there isn't enough money there. Tax them at 100% and you still run a HUGE deficit.

And so far as greed goes, I don't know if you are aware of this but the Republicans are massively more charitable with THEIR OWN money than Democrats are

Here's the level of articulation that St. Olaf is capable of when criticizing the big bad Tea Party. lol, sounds like a high school kid. Pretty intelligent guy right here!!! Zero facts, just bunch of insults. Yet, the Tea Party is "mean" and "stubborn"

Even some of the knuckle-draggers in the Tea Party are beginning to figure it out......they just keep doing it because they're mean, stubborn and don't want to admit they've been wrong.

Tea Party dupes are that stupid.

Lately, in fact, they even want to take our Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and retirement checks and leave the elderly to abject poverty with no medical care

Everything posted here is a lie, and St. Olaf has no facts to back them up. What a leach. "They're gonna take my retirement!!!" lol....

More charitable? Not proven that I know of....you have proof?

Tax the rich at 100% and there's still a deficit?

Again, wrong.....because you're setting up a false goal. Nobody has been talking about balancing the budget immediately. All discussion is about paying it down slowly.

It took many years of unfunded Bush wars to create this problem. It will take time to fix it. The deficit would be gone in ten to 15 years with even moderate tax increases on the rich along with closing their sleazy tax loopholes that allow them to steal from the American people.

Finally, the programs of which you speak are not "broke." That's just Fox News propaganda.

Medicare is the best and most successful provider of health care in existence and Social Security has had money taken from it and placed in other programs.

There's a difference between "broke" and robbed.

I'm going to try and go through your statement and make sense of it..

Cut taxes for the rich.. Sure okay. But, it is proven by history that lowering certain tax rates spur investment. In turn creating jobs. As opposed to historically when taxes are raised, and the entire economy suffers save for the rich who can afford to better plan for taxes and absorb the increase in the cost of goods.

Cut programs for the poor... Not really. What was put forth was the same common sense reform that a republican congress and Clinton signed on welfare reform that worked. Limiting welfare actually encourages people to find work. Or forces them.

Cut infrastructure spending.. That's just not true.

You mentioned highways bridges and public services.. I'll lump those into the above, programs for the poor and infrastructure. I see no reason in playing repeater with liberal talking points as you have.

SS, Medicare, Medicaid.. In fact, the plans the republicans put forth would not have changed benefits to current seniors. Any changes would have been stepped into to avoid drastic changes to people's retirement plans. The most drastic changes coming to those who are youngest who likely having planned for retirement, or even paid off their Christmas.. Sorry, holiday credit card bill.

The Tea Party doesn't actually need to DO anything legislatively. Grid lock is fine by me. That means no more increases in wasteful, wreckless, runaway spending. It attempts to hold other members of congress accountable for the money they are spending.

What the Tea Party needs to do is go through current budget outlays and determine where we can save money. That doesn't mean cutting programs and people starving. That means, like every other business has had to do over the last few years, they're going to have to tighten their belt. Eliminate waste, redundancy, as well as programs policies and regulation that have a negative effect on the economy and markets.

Common sense is probably above your pay grade, and out of your realm of understanding. That's fine. But don't punish everyone else for your lack of ability to form your own opinion or do your own fact checking. If all you are capable of doing is regurgitating talking points against a group of people you know nothing about find a hole to bury your thoughts.

What if I were to say that I would consider myself a Tea Party "member"... Kool-aid Fox News bible thumper.. Right? What if it was a black Tea Party "member".. All of the above and a Uncle Tom? But I thought the liberals were the party of understanding, no bullying or name calling.. Or does that only count when it's their agenda?

You sound like a little baby "wah wah, I want this, they took that, that is mine, tax the rich and get me what is mine!! wah, wah wah,"

You need to take from others in order to get through life. That is a failure. Nobody owes you a damn thing.

Such a good question!

You WISH Liberals would bend over and accept your little Tea Party takeover of this great nation.

Even you should be figuring out by now that your hopes are all in vain.

By golly, there was RESEARCH!

Nick Kristof's Column

This holiday season is a time to examine who’s been naughty and who’s been nice, but I’m unhappy with my findings. The problem is this: We liberals are personally stingy.
Liberals show tremendous compassion in pushing for generous government spending to help the neediest people at home and abroad. Yet when it comes to individual contributions to charitable causes, liberals are cheapskates.

The original source for the column

We all know we should give to charity, but who really does? In his controversial study of America’s giving habits, Arthur C. Brooks shatters stereotypes about charity in America-including the myth that the political Left is more compassionate than the Right. Brooks, a preeminent public policy expert, spent years researching giving trends in America, and even he was surprised by what he found. In Who Really Cares, he identifies the forces behind American charity: strong families, church attendance, earning one’s own income (as opposed to receiving welfare), and the belief that individuals-not government-offer the best solution to social ills. But beyond just showing us who the givers and non-givers in America really are today, Brooks shows that giving is crucial to our economic prosperity, as well as to our happiness, health, and our ability to govern ourselves as a free people.

This is interesting.

I'm retired.

I went to school on the G.I. Bill.

I have three retirement checks coming in (Social Security, Military and State) cheap dental insurance, plus free health insurance through Tri-Care and Medicare, plus investments that bring in an amount nearly equal to the dollar value of all that combined.

I'm in the catbird seat. I can do whatever I wish and buy pretty much whatever I want.

I earned and paid for every bit of it with a long, smart and successful career of hard work of over forty years.

I don't need anything from society. I've already got mine.

Your anger and bitterness make it sound like you're the one with the problems, but I guess that would go along with being a Tea Party follower.

Maybe if you'd start voting right and caring about the poor, the elderly, the vulnerable, the kids who deserve a good education and health care........you'd get some good Karma, too.

You were never in the military and you had no career (other than using your votes to steal from others)!!!!

Aren't you going to discredit the study TMAN posted? I'm sure there's a republican involved in the study somewhere :rotf:

Shouldn't be too much longer before you post a picture of your discharge papers and a photo copy of your bank account balance.
