More guns than coins?
More modern day guns?
More gun accessories?
More gun supplies?

$50 for a 500 pack of Federal .22, I can do better on Armslist.

More guns that coins? Table with guns...yes. Count...no. There were boxes and boxes of coins. But probably at least 10 different vendors with coins, and likely more. Several with sportscards too.
More modern day guns? Compared to other shows I attend, hell no. Only 4 vendors that I saw with quantities of new handguns, and about the same with new long guns. Some used stuff of recent manufacture. I would say that about 60-70% of the few guns that were there were older, collector type stuff.
More gun accessories? Not much. TONS of knife vendors, and a few ammo vendors. But only a couple tables of bags/cases, one new holster seller, and a couple tables with slings, and a few with a few scopes (mostly used). VERY few mags, and no mag vendor that had tables full of them like at the shows in the cities.
More gun supplies? I didn't see any powder, any primers, and just one vendor of bullets, which looked like home-made lead ball.

No to insult anyone, that is not my intention. But I thought the show was largely terrible. I saw one table full of roadkill pheasants and animal skulls. One table of embroidered kitchen towels. One vendor with three or four tables of jewelry. One vendor had almost a whole hallway of collectibles and antiques...none gun related. Old plates, lamps, glassware, spoons, toys, etc. Nice antiques, but nothing to do with guns at all. The signs said "Sportsmans Show". Even if you call it that, I would say less than 75% of the show was related to sports in any way. WAY too many vendors of coins, cards, antiques, and miscellaneous other junk.

Oh, and I think I neglected to mention it before. I went there with a large wad of cash in my wallet, looking to buy. I went by the one safe display 5 different times, and made an exaggerated display of looking extremely interested. Could never find anyone working the booth or to offer me any help. Finally gave up and left with no safe. There were 5 safes on display, and a price on only one. But could find nobody to tell me what the other prices were, or to even open them so I could look inside.

And a final note, and farmers, I apologize if this sounds crass....but pig farmers....if you have time to go to the gun show, you have time to take a 10 minute shower and wash the raw pig sh*t off you before coming. I smelled more pig sh*t today than I have in a long time.

Just got home - The Wells Show was a joke.
I hate to badmouth a tradition at a school, BUT.

Prices were terrible - gougers were everywhere.
Ik small rifle primers = $60.
Remington ThunderBolt 22LR brick = $55
Junk guns everywhere. Old antiques mixed in that should not be fired but too rough to display.
Prices were pissing people off.
I think this show will not be well attended next year.
It's turning into a community "garage sale".

Hopefully the organizers can turn it around and also provide more walking space between rows, keep it a Sportsmans Show PLEASE.

(I had a 1-ton truck there to haul a gun safe home, but guy running safe booth was a poor salesman, did not know his product at all, and disappeared mid-conversation.)

Stopped at Cabela's and Hoffy's on way home, Hoffy's was closed.

Next show ????????

wildfan, I agree and was just commenting on what I expected. The show was like a rummage sale, worst I've ever been to.

Yep, truly a shame. Not blaming anyone here, but I have heard this was such a great show. Sounds like maybe since it is so well attended, it brings out anyone with anything to sell. I agree with OldmanFCSA...hopefully the organizers can turn it around, because the reputation the Wells Gun Show has FAR exceeds the Wells Gun Show they put on today.

Now on the cleaning that nice Stoeger over under 20 gauge I got for pheasants from the fine folks at The Frontiersman.

Wells gun show?

Postby Evad on Sat Mar 09, 2013 7:58 pm

I guess I got lucky. My friend backed out and I didn't want to wander alone

I got 2k largo pistol primers today for $80 after tax. Wanted SPP but these still made my day.

I too thought there wasnt much there. I was shocked by the number of tables there that had nothing to do with firearms. It was also way too crowded and not enough room to manuever around the crowd in the hallways.

We stopped at Hart Brothers on the way home and I picked up some 10/22 mags and really nice 637. :D

State Fair grounds next weekend

How many expect panick priceing to be over by then?

How much inventory will be on hand?

How many vendors not attending because they dont have enough inventory to even bother?

How man see it as a way to get out of the house waste some gas money$ what 20gals for some, entry fee$, $food

and really expect to find a deal or just dream about finding that deal?

I usually attend a gun show every 5-10yrs just remind myself why I dont go to gunshows but thanks to the internet and forums with threads like this like this I may never have to attend another show again.

Went today and despite the rummage sale items there's still enough sporting stuff to entertain me for a couple hours. Prices were outrageous but probably just a sign of the times. One table had Ruger BX25 mags for $90 and a brick of Remington .22LR for a mere $70!

Glad I didn't go. Yikes.

I'm planning on going next weekend. The MWCA shows are usually at least interesting.
