Finally got my hands on an M&P Shield!!!!

8-) Paid a little over what some have-- $450 with the sales tax-- but i have been wanting one since they came out and screwed up not ordering then-- never thought these would be sold out for so long. I got the only one to make it to this town so far. Mentioned wanting one to one of the local dealers and they had just been promised one from the distributor. They said i would have first shot when it came in and- after handling it i was sold on it.

Only had time to fire 30 rounds through it so far but am very impressed. I have an appendix IWB holster and some extra mags on the way for it and then i can really test her out and start carrying it. Tried it in a different IWB holster and it disappears under a t-shirt almost as good as my LCP- and a way more effective weapon.

I have one waiting at the FFL for me right now. It will be my summer carry weapon - the G19 is just too big to fill that role. I have shot MNGunGuy's and it is a sweet little shooter.

same here- i have been carrying a G26 and love it but i have to wear overly baggy shirts to hide it in summer time. And the thinness of the shield makes it more comfortable IWB.

Unless you're wearing elastic band shorts in the summer, there's no reason you couldn't carry a G19, or other similarly sized pistol...

...just sayin'...

I can and have carried Glocks, and will continue to. But the Shield will be alot more convenient and comfortable for summer- and just as effective the way this thing is shooting so far.

There will be times when i will choose to dress around the gun and carry a glock- and other times i will just want to throw on a t-shirt and carry the Shield.

Youtube has some good vids on the Shield. Hickok45 has a good one. Here is a comparison between the KelTec and the Ruger 9s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCSDjuPBH84

Height / width seem to be almost the same (guy holds the side by side in the vid, Hickok45 gets out a caliper)
the main difference seems to be the Shield is at least 1/4 " longer from muzzle to the end of the slide.

My question would be , I can actually pocket carry in the back pocket of jeans the Kel-Tec PF9 WITH the extended 8 round mag (just makes it) Do you think the Shield can be pocket carried?

This. I haven't found anything that comes close to the LCP for pocket carry. That's what's kept me from getting one of the small 9's....I'd still rather carry the LCP.

I have a feeling OP just plain wanted a shield...and I see nothing wrong with that. Personally, if I need tiny, the LCP is awesome. Paired with a remora it has allowed me to carry at a few times I would not have otherwise.

I've owned a shield, sold it shortly after purchasing. The thinness isn't all its cracked up to be, I carried a G27 instead. I now carry a G19 or a CM9, much better options IMO. The 26 holds 2-3 more rounds and has a shorter grip (easier to conceal). Some people are more concerned about thickness, I am more concerned on grip length.

I love how nearly every Shield thread turns in to "I like my carry better and this is why".

OP, nice score.

I can carry the Shield in the same location- appendix- as i do the LCP and have a much more effective gun. At least for me- i can shoot the Shield faster and more accurate than the LCP and it carries 1 more round with the flush mag- and more powerfull rounds of course. I didn't like pocket carry when i tried it- and have no plans to try it again.

Fair enough. I was just curious.

Now, since you have both...hook the curious among us up with comparison pictures.
