So out of curiosity, why don't ammunition manufacturers (temporarily) increase their prices? That would kill off that kind of insider arbitrage, and work to bring supply and prices back down faster afterwards. It would also allow those manufacturers to spend the increased profits on more permanent capacity, as well as increase the incentive for new manufacturers.

I know I for one wouldn't mind paying more for scarce ammunition knowing that the extra cash went to federal, rather than some skeezy internet scalper.

Picked up a Ruger 10/22 TALO limited edition for only $309.99 from my local dealer. Last one he had in stock. Had several other 10/22 in stock.

Still no .22LR ammo to be found. People in my neck of the woods have been buying it as quickly has it hits the shelves... Even after dealers raised their prices!

In St. Cloud, 223 and 5.56 seems to be stay on the shelves a little longer. Powder is available, but primers are hard to find.

That's because retailers are charging $.50/round

If the price went up, I would have to bet it wouldnt come down. We have already seen prices at the retailers go up. Now they KNOW we will pay it. They have no reason to bring it down. Im not sure what the right answer is, but as long as people keep paying $100 for a box of primers on GB, the shortage isnt going anywhere.

They'll lower the prices in the future if demand decreases and supply stays up. You're correct though, that as long as people keep buying all the supply for the higher price the price will stay high. I really can't see the ammo shortage staying around for THAT many months though, because pretty soon people are going to have more than they want to use or stockpile and they'll slow down on the purchasing.

How about this......Don't buy from that skeezy internet scalper. If people had enough common sense not to buy from them the problem would correct itself pretty quickly

FYI, if anyone cares.....

Next Tuesday will be 4 months (05/07/2013) since my 01/07/2013 order for 6 magazines for my Ruger Mark II 22/45. Yikes. No update from them in awhile either. I guess I could email them, but I'll get them when I get them I guess. It will also be the same 4m onths for my 5,250 rounds of .22LR I ordered from Cabella's, who did email me stating they expected a shipment in on 04/25/2013 and then recently extended it out to 05/25/2013. They've done that every month for the past 4 months. Not heir fault, but damn. I think maybe it's time to buy 10,000 rounds of .45ACP and 25,000 of .22LR once prices come down.

I can live with .50/round at local retailers for decent brass. It's places like luckygunner who are at .90-1.60 for brass, and .70-.80 for steel. I used to pay .23/round for steel. Used to be the online retailers were cheaper at times, but now they are nuts.

Everytime i've been in Hutchinson lately, i would stop at Runnings and buy my daily limit of Fiocci Brass (which was a 1 box limit) for 29.99 a box of 50, and my 2 box limit of 9mm for 19.99 a box of 50. But the 9mm has been gone now for a couple of weeks. I don't like to pay that much, but i'm not going to deplete my supply, i'd like to somewhat keep them full.

Is the panic over?

The biggest thing people need to do is quit paying the ridiculous prices on gunbroker and on armslist, that just keeps the retirees and scalpers in business. Then the prices and availability will get better

Cabela's Rogers was also pretty well stocked with powder yesterday. And bullets, including .224. More than they've had in a while. I'm wondering if they perhaps shifted some inventory to appear favorable compared to Gander that just opened near them.
