anyone load 6.8 SPC??

anyone load 6.8 SPC??

Postby dubya on Sat May 25, 2013 7:39 pm

I built a nice 6.8 SPC II for a new deer rifle and want to load some hot 95gr TTSX rounds. I have 180 SSA 110gr Accubounds that shoot great but always had great performance with the TTSX bullets and like that they're a little faster than the 110gr bulllets.
I'm asking because I have everything except powder and I'm not sure what kind to buy or where I can find said powder. Any info/help would be awesome.

Alright, I'm gonna have to crawl out from under my bridge on this, seeing as nobody else wants to answer, and I don't really feel like it... Grumble, grumble, mutter, ooch!, damn Shippy and his sissy foah bottles!, crawl, crawl, mutter...

So you have EVERYTHING you need 6.8 SPC (cool round, BTW...) but you don't know which powders work?? So does this mean that EVERYTHING you need for reloading doesn't include a reloading manual?? Hmmmmm??? Seeing as a reloading manual would list all the powders you can use in plain English that you could easily read, it kinda looks that way to me.

So is this the case of NFM, or TCTBFM, or something else that I need to add to my Dictionary??

To point you in the right direction with this new cartridge that isn't in some of the older manuals, it's in both Hornady #9 and Nosler #7, but the Nosler manual has 4 full pages of data with up to 8 powders on each page, so it's the one to buy.

Damn it's cold out here!! I should have stayed under my bridge and seen how high the post count on this one was going to go with no answers.....

Yes I have the Hornady manual but I'm moreso asking for the beat powder to load the 95gr TTSX I asked about above. As in maybe someone loads the same round And has a favorite powder they use.

Fair enough answer, so forgive me from mistaking you for somebody trying to get by on the cheap.

For the Nosler #7 manual, the 85 grain Spitzer E-Tip lists most accurate powder tested as H322, with a Min load of 29.0 and a max of 31.0, with the 31.0 being the most accurate weight. Velocity is 2777 to 2940. OAL is 2.225"

For the 100 grain Spitzer Accubond, most accurate powder is Benchmark, with 29.0 - 31.0 range velocity 2569 to 2760, OAL at 2.245", and 31.0 grains is best load

For 110 grain spritzer accubond the most accurate powder is X-Terminator, 27.5 -28.5 grains , 2428 to 2532 FPS, 28.5 is most accurate load, and OAL is 2.245"

For 115 grain custom competiton HPBT, best powder is IMR 3031, 25.0 - 27.0 grains, 2237 to 2460 FPS, with 26.0 grains being most accurate load OAL 2.230"

Max OAL is 2.260" Barrel twist listed is all 1-10
