I've been doing searches on the interwebs about Canik/Tristar, a lot of fellas on the CZ forums dig 'em.

We've been selling a lot of the Sararms B6P which is also a Turkish clone. Everyone that tries it likes it a lot, especially at the 329.00 price point.

Do they make one with a steel frame?

They make an all steel version called a ST10 but it is much more expensive. All of the Sararms (Sarsilmaz) guns are imported by EAA (look down at bottom of link): http://eaacorp.com/hand-guns/

I agree, and at over 500 bucks you have a lot of better options out there

do ya mean "over 500 bucks", like $1,500?! ... or better options for around $500?! ... if it's the latter ... what're ya thinkin?! ... preferably steel-framed ... double-stack 9mm or .40 ... DA/SA er DAO

I was thinkin Sig P250 ... I know, not a metal frame ... but then, that's why I don't have one, already!

Plus, I used to have a USP ... wife still talks about it ... I know she's full o **** ... but at least then, I could shut her up!

Have had a Canik since the first time they where imported by Canik USA. Very well made. On mine my CZ mags fit but the Canik mags won't lock in on my CZs.

Sounds like they have been supplying NATO with pistols for a number of years now.

The Turkish SAR K2 P9 I bought for my wife has been outstanding. She gives me a look if I take it to the range without her. I shoot it better than any auto I own and it has been accurate and flawless over about 1500 rounds. Really interested in a range report as well, since I am very interested in a Century Arms/Canik Stingray compact, as a completely ambidextrous carry pistol, and it has gotten quite good reviews.

Got my latest issue of American Rifleman today and they did an article on the TriStar C100. Canik 55 version of the CZ 75 compact. Very well written article.

The Canik is a combo of the PCR and compact CZ. It is a hard chromed alloy body like the PCR but with a safety like the compact. CZ alloy frames only come as decockers. Exactly the reason i bought mine to replace my PCR as it was the only gun i owned with decocker instead of a safety.

There's a review of a very similar pistol in the copy of American Rifleman that just showed up in the mail. It's quite favorable, so I think you'll be happy with the gun.
