I would add "wild arse" to this ;)

 Just for giggles, I called Bill's in Robbinsdale.
Pressed 3 for the Range guy.
Asked if there was a recent accident where someone lost the tip of a finger?
Range guy seemed honestly confused, surprised and claimed no knowledge of any such incident.

Carry on....

Because telling the truth would be great for business, or maybe that employee wasn't aware of what happened on a different shift.

911 call log states traumatic injury at Bill's Robbinsdale.

I'm sure Bill's would deny the loaded fully automatic Thompson machines guns sitting behind the firing line too.... and the picts are on this forum to prove that it happened. They will also deny the air quality sucks, but hey, check for yourself next time you're there. the air filters are located near/behind the rental rifles. Check out the status of the lights.

Bill's won't suffer because most people are blissfully ignorant of such facts.

Ooh, where do you find the 911 call logs?
I've got a hour to kill, might be interesting.

It was posted on FB, but I have a connection. Let me see what I can procure from "within" (not within Bill's either - I can do better yet).

I want to know how where you guys get your info. This sounds like misinformation being spread by some anti gun liberal. And you guys are buying it.

Finger alongside the cylinder and exposed to blast from the barrel-cylinder gap? Been there, done that. When I was a stupid kid of 16 I did that with a J-frame Smith .38 Special.

It stung.

It left a sooty mark.

It did not do any serious physical harm. The soot washed off.

So, if somebody lost a fingertip, it was not from that.

S&W is still being sued for unanticipated hand surgery.

As if these bottom feeding ambulance chasers don't have enough people to wreak their misery upon you have to provide them with free advertising. Advocating doing this with a large caliber handgun iss not a joking matter, either.

I guess I find it very hard to believe that someone would loose part of a finger simply from having it in the way of the cylinder gap. I can see maybe getting a burn but the idea of losing part of a finger just seems a bit much. Perhaps I'm naive having never been victim to that type of injury but I just don't see it.

I've always been a bit leery of shooting at Bill's (any range really) since having gone to Bill's on the day that one of the suicides happened there (they've had more than one if memory serves me correctly). I had gone there in the afternoon and parked in the underground parking. I went to the door to the range and found it was locked with a sign on it saying they were closed. I thought this was odd since it was within normal hours for the range to be open. I didn't think much of it until I saw on the news that someone had rented a handgun and gone out on the range and shot themselves in the head. I'm SO glad the timing was such that I wasn't there when it happened. I feel bad for the people that were there that day, especially the RO (forget his name). I went there some time after the incident and some people were giving the RO who was working a hard time (same guy that was working when it happened). I thought it was in particularly bad taste given what the guy had to have seen and gone through.

From personal experience I can say that it's easy to underestimate the danger of cylinder gap blow-by. I was shooting my Redhawk .44 magnum from a sandbag rest once to sight in the scope and had my off hand resting atop the sandbags about 6 inches from the side of the revolver. Ouch. No permanent damage, but it was an experience I won't repeat.

Yes, it can and has happened with larger caliber revolvers. A quick Google search will show you this. .38 spcl is just a pipsqueak compared to .44, .454, .500, etc.
