"The incident also led to an investigation by Child Protective Services, requiring Cooper to take her children to the CPS office in Houston.
"Her children were separated from her and interrogated by child abuse investigators. CPS found no cause for concern regarding the well being of Cooper's children and dropped the investigation."

This should NEVER have happened.
I hope Cooper wins her lawsuit, especially against her "neighbor".

I hope the busybody neighbor pays big time. These were not toddlers. Is mom supposed to walk them to a friends house half a block away? Sheesh, my and all my friends' moms would have spent most summer nights in jail if letting kids run free was a crime. Oh, and fire any cop who arrests a citizen simply on the word of another.

So few kids play outside anymore at all. The park across the street sits empty 90% of the time. Most of the activity is organized baseball leagues. Almost never kids directing themselves. No wonder obesity is becoming the new normal.

Failure #1: Nosey blind neighbor calls the cops about kids playing outside and possibly using their imagination. They should be inside being indoctrinated and pacified into good little sheeple by the cartoons and video games.

Failure #2: Cop decides to make a false arrest on unsubtantiated claims from "eyewitness" about children being exposed to potential dangers like falling off a scooter and getting a scuffed elbow. The HORROR!

Failure #3: Other cops at the station don't bother to verify if there is any legitimate or substantiated proof to jail the mother. "Oh, another bad mom huh? Throw her in cell 4 and we'll grab lunch".

I really hope the stupid neighbor gets the slammer for a weekend as a result. And good greif the cop needs a backhand up side the head.

When my kids were teenagers the neighbors would call the police because they thought they were speeding. Their little brats were playing in the street. I was getting visits from the police every day. These busy bodies think that the streets are their own playground. They are not. The other day one of the little brats ran out in front of my car. I stopped and the parents told me I was driving too fast (15mph). So I can see why some busy body would call the police for stupid stuff.
