MINNESOTA GUN OWNERS POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE
ENDORSES JULIANNE ORTMAN FOR UNITED STATES SENATOR

SAINT PAUL, MINN. DECEMBER 30 – The Minnesota Gun Owners Political Action Committee today announced their endorsement of State Senator Julianne Ortman (R-Chanhassen) for United States Senator.

“Throughout her time in the Minnesota Senate, Julianne Ortman has been an energetic and consistent advocate for Minnesota’s gun owners, “ said Mark Okern, Chairman, Minnesota Gun Owners PAC. “She has demonstrated a strong commitment to policies that protect the rights of Minnesotans to hunt, enjoy the shooting sports, and protect their families from violent criminals.”

As a Minnesota State Senator, Julianne Ortman consistently opposed gun control measures that would have impacted the rights of law-abiding Minnesotans while having no impact on violent criminals. Senator Ortman supported the Minnesota Citizen’s Personal Protection Act in 2003 and 2005. She also supported Stand Your Ground legislation in 2012 that was later vetoed by Governor Mark Dayton. Most recently, she was a strong and vocal advocate for gun owners as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee during several days of hearings.

“As United States Senator, we are confident Julianne Ortman will continue her strong support for Minnesota’s gun owners and be a leader on this issue not only for Minnesota but also for the nation, “ said Okern.

“I’m pleased to receive the endorsement of the Minnesota Gun Owners Political Action Committee, as I believe strongly that the Second Amendment protects a meaningful, individual, right to keep and bear arms, “ said Republican United States Senate Candidate Julianne Ortman. “Through their grassroots and political efforts, the Minnesota Gun Owners PAC is an invaluable resource and advocate for Minnesota’s law-abiding gun owners in the political process. I look forward to working with them in the upcoming election.”

I wish her well. A good candidate should be able to beat Al Franken. Hell, Norm Coleman came close and he was a bad candidate. The problem with this state is that the voters rely on name recognition and vote accordingly. Franken, Dayton, Mondale, Humphrey and a whole host of last names will get you far in this state. They don't even have to stand for anything.
Donald Trump got more fat women moving in one day than Michelle Obama did in eight years.

Glad to see this endorsement! Pro civil rights candidates deserve our financial support, and anti rights candidates need to know they will be held accountable. The MN GOPAC gives us a great tool to fight back against the antis. Thanks to you and Mark for making this happen.

Yeah. Let me know when you find one.

She may deserve the endorsement, but being pro-2A doesn't make her pro civil rights.

I like her, and support her - but with all do respect, can someone please tell her to stop forwarding her 'tweets' to her Facebook page? :D
No offense, but it looks worse than a teenager texting, either that I or don't read Twitter enough.

Thanks for acknowledging the difference.

The MN Gun Owners Pac is a single-issue / non-partisan PAC - we only consider voting records and positions related to the Second Amendment & the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Other civil rights areas are important to many, including Mark and I, but the PAC's endorsement & support positions will be based on Second Amendment considerations.

Thanks! Only the beginning of many candidates we'll support as we head into 2014.

If Satan was running for US Senate against Al Franken and was pro- constitution and anti- tax.... I would have to seriously consider voting for Satan ....

with all due respect ... none of these issues belong in politics ...... now, 100 years ago or ever .....

I really want to make a joke about how it would be impossible to challenge onself in an election...

I'll refrain and thank the PAC. As stated (and they spoke about @435), it's single issue. You get to make your choice, but they will help you weed out those who aren't pro2A. Everyone has issues to base votes on, but GIJoe said it best...

We will be doing both - though, as you say, our primary focus is going to be on MN state races. Our fundraising has concentrated entirely on our state campaign fund. For context, state and federal PAC funds are separate....

Email me if you want more context around this race & decision....

Thanks!
