I've been "into" guns since I was 19 or so - but only seriously active on this issue politically over the past few years.

I vividly remember Heather's comments from the Stand your Ground hearings - it was one of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever heard come out of a gun control advocate's mouth before.

at 0:18....hats off the the 'Guffawers' laughing at Heather Martens preposterousness. Worth getting tossed out for but I'm sure Gocra frowns on that....makes for good video though.

The GOCRA brain trust were front and center during that laughter, laughing along with the whole room. It was that absurd!

Rep. Moran, "I'm not going to 'axe' any questions."
Donald Trump got more fat women moving in one day than Michelle Obama did in eight years.

I didn't get into the politics side of it until the Stand Your Ground hearings 2 years ago. What tipped me into the action part was when "Representative" Heather Martens got up and stated for the record that all gun owners were only a dark night away from opening their windows and shooting out blindly into the night.

Thats when I gave GOCRA my money. Thats also when I ran into Plblark at the Gopher Bar after one of the hearing sessions. He was telling me how they needed volunteers too...

Funny- I've been on the GOCRA site a few times looking to contact them to volunteer some of my time. Even went against my better judgement and sent an email, to no-one in particular, (through their general email), about volunteering. Have never heard back. I guess they've got it covered. Gee, all those volunteer positions must've filled up fast.

I'll just point out for the hunters and trap shooters out there that the last 3 school shootings were ALL committed using a S-H-O-T-G-U-N.
The last shooter's gun had 3 rounds. That's only one shot more that a $20,000 o/u Perazzi. No gun owners is safe anymore.

They never were. They will always chip away. Every gun control advocate in MN that I've seen has call for banning all guns at some point.

what boggles the mind is that is this and medical pot are being brought up here on this site ...... with all due respect...... take your liberal social agenda else where...... the constitution is at stake here .... being carved up and under attack ..... remember the documents that give you the right to think about social issues and discuss them ? oh yeah that document! So with all due respect .... speak on topic and keep your liberal agenda out of here.

I see firearms and the 2nd Amendment as a single issue politically. Any other issue is separate and there are plenty of places on the Intarwebs to discuss them.

Don't confuse your politics - this fight involves your right to own/carry/etc a firearm...nothing else.

Although I'd like to see an alliance with the First Amendment folks as in 'first they came for the XXXXX' :)

I'm with the other commenters on here in that this forum, is meant and should be kept to, all things gun related. Having said that, I value all rights for everyone. My philosophy is very simple; you, as my fellow countryman, should enjoy every right, freedom, privilege, immunity, or protection under the law that I can, and vice-versa. But your rights end where mine begin.

In some ways, I do see lines of comparison between the fight for gun rights and the 2A being included as a fight for civil rights for us all as a whole. We're basically in a fight against an oppressive, giant, bloated government set on establishing more and more control over the population, rather than serving the population.
