Kimber 1911

Discussion of handguns

Had a Kimber, it was the most accurate pistol I ever owned. It was also the most problematic and unreliable. Kimber's customer service is terrible, but that's not a long-term problem since you only get a 1yr warranty.
Kimber later screwed up my rifle build order badly, which put the rifle 14 weeks behind schedule. Rifle was supposed to take 16 weeks, and on week 14 I finally got confirmation that the order was botched and never moved from "received" to being placed in build queue. The only thing they said was "yeah, sorry bout that. We'll put it back in the build queue". Not to the front of the line mind you, but onto the end of it. Management wouldn't do squat so I cancelled the order. Kimber is NFE in my book.

I had a kimber briefly last year. I bought it intending to do a build on it as customs are not all that common in kimbers despite their popularity, and it was a series 70 frame. Well, after going through the gun, I found the only parts I'd be retaining were the slide and frame - $600 for an ok fitted slide/frame? No thanks. Ended up returning it to Cabela's having never shot it.

I have one Kimber. It's a 5" Custom Eclipse from around 2000. It's a very accurate gun.
Two buddies have new Kimbers and they have both spent a lot of time back at Kimber.

This sure looks interesting to me...http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=440796
I would sure like to hold one.

Ok. Then there should be NONE of the following, in no particular order.

Bobbed hammers
Extended beaver tail safeties
Adjustable sights / night sights
Ambidextrous safeties
Full length guide rods
Bushingless barrels
Checkered front straps

Should I go on?

Yea but most of those have at least a reasonable attempt at adding functionality.

"One and done"

Hahahahahahahahahahaha....

Good luck with that.
