Just got the emergency text. MWAG call at UMD. Shelter in place. Police have taken individuals into custody. Further info to follow.

Non-UMD students taken into custody. What was thought to be a gun wasn't. No threat on campus. False alarm this time.

The official line:
"Police took two non-UMD students into custody this morning after a report of what appeared to be a gun on campus. Two individuals walked into the Kirby Plaza Bus Hub, and an alert employee observed that one of them dropped what appeared to be a gun and called 911. Police located the suspects and recovered an air soft pistol. A 15-year-old male and a 19-year-old male are facing charges of disorderly conduct, underage consumption, and possession of drugs. UMD followed Emergency Notification protocol and issued a shelter in place notification while police could confirm that the threat was over. UMD Police will take questions in a news conference at 10:00 a.m. at the Kirby Plaza Bus Hub."
