Ah .... I see. I will probably get one of those too [not sure what model ... any suggestions ;-)] .... but I shoot well with the Glock, and I have the misfortune to be the only person I know that has had "Glock Failure" beyond replacing a worn recoil spring or trigger spring. I guess I must be the guy with the unlucky stat.

Having said that, the gun is under warranty and I probably should use it IF they don't take weeks to get it back to me.

Glock will take care of you, however, they're backordered by over 8k units, so they may take a lonnnng time. glock parts are very cheap, and a glock armourer will probably repair it for free, try streichers.

Excellent idea! Thanks!

Hmm .... my Mother still uses her tupperware from 40 years ago. Uses it all the time. I can only hope to get the same use from my .45cal tupperware ;-)

Odd .. I took it up to where I bought it and had them look at it (I have not cleaned it yet) and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It fired onto snapcaps just fine. Also compared to the other Glocks that they had everything looked normal. The striker was out fully and it looks fine. I am going to clean it up and oil it and give it another try at the range.

If it fails, I can always shoot this one :-)

Too bad it only shoots 8+1 ;-) Trigger breaks lighter than my Glock which is nice 8-)

Unless you own a Glock 20, no, it's not.

It is the Glock 22 known to "blow up", which was the other posters reference I presume. I was referring to the atomic bomb image when I responded the way that I did.

But, to your response, I am aware that a 10mm round has the ability to put out higher velocity for a given mass bullet than .45ACP (it is damn near a magnum!). If I wanted that, I would shoot magnums ... in fact, my Wife and I shoot a .357 Magnum pistol together so that she can shoot lighter 38 special rounds and I, when the desire overtakes me, can shoot the magnum rounds. Generally, I shoot my Glock 21SF. Soon, I will find out if it is really broken or not (since it seems to function perfectly when working with it using snapcaps ... and we verified the striker is OK). I kind of hope that it is, because I would hate for it to fail for some unknown reason again ... right when I might actually need it to defend myself. But then, I already posted a picture of "something better" for that; at least, one-on-one home defense. I still like the light weight of the Glock and, up until yesterday, its absolute reliability [not one jam, not one misfire or failure to fire, and has taken every load I put through it ... about 1500 rounds or so]

If it works when it's unloaded, it should work when it's loaded.....unless there's something wrong with the ammo you're putting in it, or there's something in the chamber that's keeping it from closing....which is what it sounds like it's doing.

What ammo are you using?

That's rich.....1911 guys picking on a Glock owner over a malfunction. Well, I guess ya gotta strike while the metal is hot..... :D

I figured out the problem, but I think an armorer will have to fix it.

I have been shooting WWB and mid range hand loads (carefully measured ... bullseye and unique powders .. I find bullseye to be more accurate for target shooting, but graphite covers the end of the gun).

Anyway, as I mention, I brought the gun back to where I purchased it and they didn't see anything wrong (we tried with snap caps and it "fired" fine). I went on over to Bill's and bought a box of Magtech .45ACP FMJ (what crap by the way ... I guess I am noticing that my hand loads are more accurate ... but so is WWB and Federal American Eagle). Still got the failure to fire problem ... safeties didn't engage and trigger pulled through easy. This time I took time to look closely at the gun and noticed that the slide was sitting about 1/8" (max) back from where it should be. I pushed it in with my thumb and it shot the remainder of the rounds flawlessly. I cleaned and oiled it up when I got home ... I don't know what would cause the slide to stick like that [by so small a distance], but hopefully oil will make the difference. I want to avoid over oiling the gun to avoid other problems and, of course, I avoided the trigger. Anyway, about 60 rounds went through it without issue. Sent another 150 rounds through a S&W SW1911PD (tactical with Picatinny rail) and they were spot on! Only catch is my 200gr SWC wouldn't load into the stock magazine. I will try Wilson Combat 47D magazine in that thing next time to see if I can send these rounds through ... sounds like it should work.

So, if I find the fail to fire happening again with my Glock, I know where to look, but I am afraid it might be hard to get a smith to repro the problem. Anyway, until I am confident this won't happen again, I won't be happy with this gun as a self-defense weapon. Hence my other reference.

If you've been using the 200 grain LSWC's in the Glock, I would suspect that there may be (or was) a little lead build up around the chamber mouth that was keeping the round from chambering all the way.....at any rate, something was keeping the slide from closing fully, which is why the trigger didn't go all the way forward, and sure sounds ammo related.

I'm south, near Rochester, if you ever get down this way I'd be glad to take a look at it for you.
