Suggestions for a decent folding knife

Look at Cold Steel, decent quality for a fair price and in a variety of flavors.

Cold steel dose not garuntee there folders... Go with a good usa company like Benchmade, or kershaw if you want to save money

I carry a benchmade model 710 McHenry & Williams and I love it. Benchmade have a fantastic no questions asked warranty, with a quick turn around. I am a fan of the straight edge and dont like the half and half type blades. I can get it back to factory edge in about five minutes with my 15 dollar diamond steel from walmart. it comes out quickly, and has a really tight lock but is easy to refold onehanded. The rest of the guys are right, get american and remember you really get what you pay for. BTW, I also think Spyderco knives look goofy, but there is no denying that they are a quality product.

I agree spyderco are great aswell. Boker and some of the germin knives are good too but keep to the good ones not the boker magnums

I carry the CRKT M-16 for a folder. For a fixed blade I carry a Sheepshead head-chopper-offer. Bulky, but gets the JOB done.

I am a big fan of the cold steel ti-lite. I've been carrying mine for about 2 years now.

I carry a cold steel voyager tanto folder.Its the first pocket knife I've had that I carry regularly that didn't break..
I'm rough on knives and have broken most major brands.I did break a pocket clip on my first one..put it in a tool box and
bought another just like it with a better (replaceable clip) on it.

i carry the cold steel hatamoto. while it is a tad over a hundred bucks it has been a great everyday carry knife. some of the qualities i like are the ability to hold an edge, speed and ease of deploying the blade, and the over all quality of the the knife itself.

Buck 110. Lasts forever and if you somehow manage to mess it up they'll replace it for life.

I have been carrying Bucks for 30 years or better...I have broken one and lost several.

Not a high performance item but basic and does the job. I never worry about losing one and it takes some skill to sharpen. It is a carefree knife to loan to someone for a minute to do a basic job and you don't need to worry about them ruining it. Kind of the Vice Grip of the knife world.

I love the Gent (2") for basic dress and pocket use. Security guards always pshaw at it so I get to keep it at work (secure building). At least I have a small blade for basic cutting.

The folding Hunter (4") and Ranger(3") are good belt knives for at the woodshop, yard work, or everyday use.

Buck Light in 3-4" is a nice casual pocket clip if you are concerned about weight.

None of these are in any way special... they are basic everyday tools you can count on.

All are in the $20 to $45 range.
