I never really understood the mystic of the EO's. They are OK but nothing spectacular yet they got huge prices for them and every 'operator' had to have the brand. I think they shared marketing strategy with Apple, ignore the facts and convince everyone you are special and have to have their product to be in the right click.

IIRC, right click and left click are Windows features, and with Apple it's just plain old click.... :P :P :P :P

More seriously, it shows how far you can go with the "tacticool" marketing approach to make a ton of money.

Been quite awhile since you've used an Apple computer, huh?

I've never used an Apple anything, and never will. Too much emphasis on "I" in this world already. I've even stopped eating apples except for apple pie, for which I make an exception.

Heh. Dave Royer's Internet Rule.

Bummer. I liked the wide field of view. I liked the reticle. From reading the complaint I think Mangano should have done some jail time.

I wonder if there will be a class action suit on the civilian side.

I'm pretty sure it's just the newer model EoTechs that are having issues. I'll test my 554 this winter, should be fine, it's not a model that's named in any of the literature I've read on the subject.

I like EoTech for really close-up shooting, but little else. I find them to have the best reticle for really fast close-in target acquisition, but at anything over 100 yards I like a simple dot better. Mine have been reliable and the batteries last a long time.

Hmmm.....

I have a couple of 516s I've got ready for eBay. Not sure I feel good about selling them if they are defective.

I just saw a post on Larry Vickers facebook page that said some people are getting refunds from Eotech. Haven't had time to research it yet.

Here is the response I got from EOTech on October 28th when asking if any repair or replacement will be available for non-militay, non-LEO customers:

Hello Rj,
If you have a concern with the performance of your EOTech please call the customer service department.

Sincerely,

Send in an RMA with how much you paid and they will process a refund.

From my understanding, the military has purchased a ton of these over the years. If that is the case, I would imagine that there will be a number of factory refurbs on the market next year. I had one, and thought it was a decent sight. I needed a little more magnification and did not like the added weight of their magnifier. If I could get one of their smaller units for cheap next year, I would put one on my 10/22.
