I'm going with THIS...especially during an election season. Why give the other side a free issue to fundraise off of?

GunBroker got cold feet. Auction has been relisted here:

I wondered if Gunbroker would go through with the auction. I believe they may have received quite a bit of grief over that listing, or, their legal advisor suggested they pull it.

Thanks for the info Squib Joe. While I have zero interest in the gun, I am interested to see how much someone is willing to pay for it? It might make someone a nice display piece. And they could bring it out for display at BLM marches. I'm sure it would bring unity at those demonstrations

This pistol wouldn't be a bad investment if the price was right. The revolver Jack Ruby used to kill Oswald went for 220K in 1991 and is now estimated to be worth well over five times that. Will the Zimmerman/Martin pistol do as well? Doubtful, but I also doubt it will drop in value. Like art and classic cars, these are things that wealthy guys like to buy to show of to their friends and then sell, and each time the price seems to get higher.

Lee Harvey Oswald is a significant notorious historical figure. Trayvon is just another dead street thug.

I'm not suggesting the guns are the same, but like it or not there are a lot of people that consider Zimmerman a hero (I'm not one of them).

Actually, the smart thing to do on Zimmerman's part would be to run a couple thousand rounds out of the pistol into a sand barrel and then sell them for a few hundred bucks a pop.

Morbid and stupid but they would sell very well.

As Joe Pags said, he's making it really hard to sympathize with/support him.

I doubt it is a real bid but it is up to $63,039,000

AP is reporting this as a probable false bid. Several ID's have been bidding it up. The headline is that the auction has been hijacked.

I can't blame home for this. The media has made him out to be a demon. I have no idea if he is or not. It does seem he's just a low income young man that could use the windfall by selling his gun. I can't fault him for that.

Update for those who missed it, he was acquitted. Why can't he sell his property? When did Hillary take over this site?

He can sell whatever he wants or doesn't want. So can Gunbroker. I think a lot of people are critical of his cringeworthy behavior after the acquittal. This is one of those situations. His ad was the most tacky thing I've ever read. As soon as he's out of the spotlight (which is something I would certainly want after a DGU), he puts himself right back into it.

Hillary. Don't be so dramatic.

I was wondering as well? I saw that GB shut it down and cannot find it on the other auction site?
