Long gun case storage ideas?

Postby yukonjasper on Fri Dec 15, 2017 1:37 pm

I have amassed a large number of soft/padded shotgun and rifle cases over the years as i have added guns to the safe. I have been "stacking" them on a shelf near the safe but the stack is now too high, falls over and is generally a PITA.

Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a different solution. What do you do?

Thanks in advance.

Most soft cases have a loop. I made a copper pipe hanger and copper wire S hooks and hang them up.

I think hooks is the way to go, but I am sure this would work too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X8KSK ... thes&psc=1 :)

I have hard cases and soft padded rifle cases.
Hard cases stacked vertically along the wall - soft cases layered atop the hard cases.
I have some VooDoo and Midway cases i'm thinking of selling, also some Midway range bags.

Lately I've sold the cases with a rifle of various configurations.

My case storage system is comprised of stuffing them in closets, stacking them in garage rafters, and stashing them under beds. It’s not a great system.

I screwed some cup hooks to the wall behind a door, and I hang them from the loops. Out of the way, generally, yet easy to get to.
Remember, gun control is not about guns, it's about control.

Wall hooks, hang the soft cases. They "stack" really nicely hung. Hard cases are tougher but 2 eye bolts and a bungie can help.

Stack them between the floor joists in the basement. A double gun case may not fit but the singles should be fine. Screw in some eye bolts and use a couple of bungee cords or a short length of rope to secure them.

That's been my system also but now they are overflowing into the living room so this has sparked my interest. My wife thinks I need an intervention.

I don’t see the point of a case for every long gun. 2-3 each for scoped, slimline and SBR’s should suffice. For longer term storage of guns I don’t expect to shoot soon, I like Zerust bags. Midway gunsocks for inside safe. Wide black or purple for Scoped/AR. Narrow for lever/pump w/o optics. Cut ‘em up and sew one end to store handguns/optics/lowers/suppressors etc.

What if you need to bring more than 2 or 3 with you?
