It's a 6.8 case that has been necked down to .22 caliber. The shoulder has been pushed back to allow for the loading of long, high-BC bullets (i.e. the 90gr SMK in the factory Gold Medal load). The round is designed to run in small-frame ARs with the At the advertised 2700 fps, the 90gr SMK has pretty similar ballistics to 6.5 Creedmoor and better than ballistics for most factory 6.5 Grendel. Federal is offering 4 loads for it from the intro: 90gr SMK, 90gr Fusion, 75gr American Eagle, and 60gr Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint. Several manufacturers have signed on to produce rifles: Savage, LWRC, JP, to name a few.
