Thanks for posting this. I watch Youtube video's almost daily. The majority of video's I watch are gun or reloading related.

I just sent my comments to Youtube and Google. I'm also contacting my friends that are also interested in these topics, and requesting that they too, let Youtube and Google know their thoughts on these changes.

Just a note: I began reloading in 2012. And before I found this forum, and before I met OldmanFCSA the majority of my learning process was RTFM and watching Youtube video's. I learned a great deal by watching Youtube because I tend to learn faster, through visually seeing the process. I'm sure, I'm not the only one.

Whether you watch Youtube or not, I hope you will take the few minutes to contact them, and let them know that they are not acting in our best interest.

Until I start seeing lists of banned users and videos I'm going to treat this as another internet rant.

My guess is this is just a CYA by Youtube.

I wish Full 30 would let other content creators join besides just the top gun channels. The best thing about YT was that there were so many people with so many different ideas. If you were looking for reviews, builds, opinions, tests, design ideas, etc... I'd want to hear from more than just a few people. Will they ever open it up to the general public or is it always going to be by invite only?

I'm all for going somewhere besides YT but I want it to be more than just like 65 channels.
BTW... Does anyone know what "full30" means? Possibly some military term?

So all the news outlets carrying the story are wrong?

All the "news outlets" I've seen so far are just hyping a storyline. I've yet to see or hear of a single video or user being banned. Until I do, I will reserve my moral outrage and righteous indignation for more important matters.

It sickens me every time a company takes a political stand. Just do business and STFU, please.

That said, I took a quick look and it seems that most of the how-to vids I watched recently for assembling my AR308 are still out there. But I don't doubt that, like Amazon or FB, YT will eventually steer content away from fun things.

There's an ARFcom thread about this and it says 29 days or something until the policy changes I think... not sure where that number comes from though.

According to the policy change I read from YT's page, it seems like they're not banning all firearm content, just content with certain devices like bump stocks and their like, high cap mags, DIY suppressors, 80% kits, and reloading. I could actually live with their ban of everything except reloading and 80%ers. There's so much great information on those that not only is extremely helpful, but makes people safer in the process.
But I get that if we give them an inch, they'll take a mile...

From their page:
YouTube prohibits certain kinds of content featuring firearms. Specifically, we don’t allow content that:

*Intends to sell firearms or certain firearms accessories through direct sales (e.g., private sales by individuals) or links to sites that sell these items. These accessories include but may not be limited to accessories that enable a firearm to simulate automatic fire or convert a firearm to automatic fire (e.g., bump stocks, gatling triggers, drop-in auto sears, conversion kits), and high capacity magazines (i.e., magazines or belts carrying more than 30 rounds).

*Provides instructions on manufacturing a firearm, ammunition, high capacity magazine, homemade silencers/suppressors, or certain firearms accessories such as those listed above. This also includes instructions on how to convert a firearm to automatic or simulated automatic firing capabilities.

*Shows users how to install the above-mentioned accessories or modifications.

If anyone feels like trying to help, go here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7667605 and click on NO at the bottom (Was this article helpful?) then it will ask for feedback on the topic. Who knows, maybe with enough comments, we can help change their minds...

As long as people post respectful, well thought out opinions that are expressed without hyperbole, anger an angry words, it may make a difference, I sort of doubt it, but why not try. If the opposite happens, it will only validate their movre. Don't be a crazy gun nut.
