I've debated doing such with my AR-50 tank brake at an angle similar to the ports which is then severely restricted by thickness of material. Another AR-50 shooter has requested that modification to his muzzle brake, but since he hydro-dipped his entire rifle I have no desire to touch his action, barrel, or muzzle brake.
This Winter I will drill/bore and tap for 1/8-27 NPT which will allow for tuning without fear of plug restricting bore. (If I had a CNC mill with helical interpolation, I would thread mill to a shoulder to prevent insert from being installed too deep.) I will add this feature to front of each port in the brake at 90 degrees to the bore.
Any action and reaction will occur after the projectile has left the bore, except for the column of air compressed in front of projectile. This column of air is what must be "tuned" to control accuracy potential of rifle with this feature. Length of barrel, temperature of barrel/air inside, size & Number of ports, all have an effect which must be learned to affect the result.
A " tensioned barrel" would have a greater effect to the accuracy potential of these type of rifles, but I see no company providing this option. With the current length of the barrel shrouds, it would be easy to apply to rifles. A "Super-Nut" at end of barrel would provide the best consistency to any setup. Think about that for a while - it has been done to other 50BMG rifles with great success when applied properly.
