1911 sight install

I tend to do it myself or send to Dawson Precision, but I have contacted Ahlman’s before and they were more than willing to install a set I bought online.

If you end up finding and using somebody local, please share your experience.

I would check with Bills. They did have an onsite gun smith who had some instock parts and 1911 sights seem like something they would have on the shelf.

Guessing your experience at J & S is similar to mine but I’ll ask anyway. Why not J & S?

To answer your question ghost, I called them a while ago to make sure they were open and headed that way . They said they had plenty of sights in stock and could be installed while I wait. When I arrived 1 front sight in stock & was educated by all sights are the same hmmm. And to think someone said they used to do custom work on 1911s. Well after looking at a catalog . Here comes the girl with takeout . Obviously lunch was more important. Understandable , I picked out a set of sights and said I would leave a deposit . I was told that wasnt necessary. I said Ok & they would contact

I was told that wasnt necessary. I said Ok & they would contact me when they came in 2 weeks no call . So I gave them a call on hold for 20 minutes not in yet and click. Called a week later nothing. No big deal I knew there reputation, & just called to hear his bs . Not to mention on my first trip there were no sights and the smith wasnt there. Long rant but maybe this will save someone some future aggravation.

Yeah, sounds like them.

I thought I ordered a few thousand in guns over about a years time and I never received a single call that one had arrived for pickup.

Found all the guns elsewhere eventually.

I’ve heard that about them. Stopped in once, not impressed.
