As to 3.5” vs. 3”, the extra length just gives you a bit more options with hunting loads, in particular nontoxic shells.
I shoot a lot of 3.5” waterfowl loads. What I’m using is replicating the old short mags in performance. (1.5 oz at about 1350 FPS). 2.25 Oz turkey loads are more nasty- and every turkey I shot was with 2.75” 1.5oz shells.
Unless you are pass shooting geese, the 3” shells will do everything you need until you get enough experience that you know what you want.
