Selector issue with AR build

Postby purd0027 on Thu Jul 11, 2019 8:56 pm

I am trying to build a lower and am encountering issues with the selector. It doesn't seem to want to click to engage safety or click to select fire, just kinda swings loose. Detent is installed with pointy end first and I don't think I kinked the spring. Tried two different selectors, AR Stoner and Aero Precision, got a similar result with each. Lower is an Anderson Mfg. Is it possible that the detent hole is out of spec? I tried to pass a #22 drill bit through the hole (installation book said the holes should be cleaned by hand twisting with this size bit). Does this mean the lower is out of spec? Thanks in advance

If you install the detent without the safety (selector), do you see it sticking out of the hole?

Are you using the correct spring?
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Did the drill bit go through? The way you wrote this it sounds like it didn't. (it should)

Looks like our new friend decided not to come back.

I hope he fixed his problem.

Sorry all, I'm having trouble uploading an image and having trouble generally posting :( Hope this goes through. I am using an a Magpul K2+ grip. The conical part of the detent sticks through, but not the cylindrical portion. I am pretty certain is the right spring. The drill bit does not go through - sorry it wasn't clear.

I’ve never paid any attention to this particular depth but that seems like it should work. Have you tried the selector while holding the detent and spring in as far as you can?

The detent isn't sticking through the hole enough, there must be a burr or something in the hole.

The channel in the sector is cut fairly deep. I don't think your detent is engaging it properly.

Thanks all, I'll see if Anderson wants me to send it back or if they tell me to try to break out the drill. . .
