TPT Almanac Debate: 8/9/2019

Postby bstrawse on Sat Aug 10, 2019 9:13 am

Last night I debated and discussed the proposed gun control measures federally and here in Minnesota on TPT's Almanac Show with Rev. Nancy Nord Bence of Protect Minnesota and Almanac's hosts.

You can watch the full 7ish minute clip here:

I really wish we could have a longer, more in-depth discussion of the bills rather than the soundbite driven format that this forces us into - but I'm fairly happy with how this turned out.

Thank you for doing this. A bit of constructive criticism. I sure wish you would have challenged her claims more, as well as described the typical gun owner, and the good that we do in our community.

Another big thank you for continuing to go on that show, and all the other stuff you do. That show is hardly unbiased. You know the MODERATORS could have challenged that "90% of Minnesotans support stronger gun control" statistic. I mean, there are INCREDIBLY few items I think you could get 90% of our population to agree on and I sure don't thing gun control is one of them.

Also, although the debate was rather low key without any dramatics (which I think was fine) I noticed that Nancy Bence (of Protect Minnesota) seemed to have the last word on almost all the points the moderators raised...but I'm pretty biased and sensitive about our side not getting a fair shake at these things.

Again, a big thank you for all your work.
