Virginia takes first step on gun ban
Despite a continued explosion of “gun sanctuaries” in nearly every corner of Virginia, the new Democratic-controlled legislature on Friday took the first step to ban sporting rifles, large-capacity magazines, and suppressors.

In a 12-9 vote, the House Public Safety Committee voted to ban “assault weapons” such as the popular AR-15 and AK-47, magazines that hold more than 12 rounds, and sound suppressors effective July 1.

The bill is expected to win passage in the full House of Delegates but faces some difficulty in the Senate, where a handful of Democrats are unsupportive. A similar bill in the Senate was previously withdrawn.

Gun advocates flooded the committee hearing room and were cleared out after the vote when there were some angry reactions.

I've been saying that for years and it's even more true today. It doesn't matter if your particular Senator/Rep is "on our side". Your vote is nothing but a proxy vote for the leadership. We are a couple seats away from Gazelka being replaced by someone like Latz. If that happens, we will see VA in MN in 2021. Walz will sign whatever they send him.

Latz wants a complete end of private gun ownership and confiscation. He is a dangerous dude in politics.

So the solution is to work hard for Gazelka and guys like Gazelka. Means working on the campaign and or contributing. Sitting around bitching will get you VA. The opposition will be working hard to get their anti gun candidates elected. Don't wait for someone else to do the work.

Watched the live feed yesterday. When this passed committee the place erupted in outrage. The VSP immediately raised their voices and ordered everyone out (except the press) within 30 seconds or they would be arrested. The live feed was cut for most of this, but there is some footage of what happened...

I am apprehensive about what the future may hold.

If I had any mechanical skill at all, I would learn to be a machinist and invest in some CNC equipment.

And what would you make that you can’t already buy at great prices?
