Taurus TRACKER 44 MAG.

Postby PHATSPEED7x on Sat Mar 21, 2020 7:47 pm

Been eyeing this in the local gun shop's case and with the panic buying I figured I better grab it while they still had it. Basically a poor man's S&W model 69 (half the cost). I've owned 44 MAG before but not in a revolver this size. I've had taurus revolvers before and they are great for the money. This will be the new wood and urban carry if panic sticks around. I'm just glad I held on to my supply of 44 MAG ammo. It's not in stock everywhere these days.

May I inquire as to where you found this, and did they happen to have any others? I've been interested in an alternate carry gun, in a large caliber, and this looks like it might fit the bill.

L&M supply in Grand Rapids MN is my main gun dealer I buy from. When I fist saw it in the case a couple months ago they had 3 in stock. As of yesterday they are sold out atm. Price was $449.99.

Yes. It's a 5 shot. Comparable to the L frame S&W model 69. But half the cost.

Beyond the j frame and of course the x frame I never learned the frame letters for s&w. Always seemed complicated.

I don't know all the calibers they have in the X-Frame, however it is used with the 500 S&W Mag. Not a carry pistol at approximately 7.5 lbs. Packs a wallop when it hits something though...

What’s timing and lockup like on these after their first box of full house .44’s?

Don't know about this particular model but lots of rounds through my 6 inch tracker in 44 mag. More round through my 22 and 17HMR trackers and all look good.

Some 2009 revolvers had some issues but not much seen in bad reviews since then.

I will never, ever, buy another Taurus.

Most guys I know who haven’t had issues with these don’t shoot them at all. The others have all had to go back to the factory for repair.

Glad to hear if someone has one, that they shoot full house loads out of regularly, that gives them zero issues.

That would be a first.
