Right now that would eliminate most chamberings including .44 mag.

We have intermittent availability of .44 Magnum at the store I work at. I am not sure if I have ever seen .41 Magnum.

It has been very intermittent from my observations. .357 mag even more so.

Yes, both of those are not on the shelves at my store often but they are vastly more available than .41 Magnum.

It is amazing that we have .357 Sig more often than either of those. Customers looking for .357 Magnum often ask if the .357 Sig will work.

I am probably wrong but I would think there are more pistols chambered in .357 Magnum than .357 Sig.

Yes, by far. The .357 mag shortage has me scratching my head, plenty of .38 special out there, but little .357 mag.

The reason you see .357 SIG is that there are a number of large agencies that currently use it.

Ditto with .38 spl.

No major government use of the .357 (they view it as excessive) or .41 or .44.

Not sure why they treat the government first here. The number of .357 SIG guns in use total is low, and commercial plus government sales are minuscule compared to the commercial sale of the .357 mag. It may just be that the commercial use of the .357 SiG is so low that it’s being seen on shelves compared to what .357 mag ammo is out. (Demand only causing the issue)…

If you're kids aren't going to go hungry get it.
Life is short.
If you reload you're all set for ammunition. If you don't, well, it's about a buck a round but it can be found.

If you go the Midwayusa route (and I really like the company) wait for one of their frequent 'free shipping' offers.
Here's a nice N-Frame S&W model 57:

And a lot more reasonably priced than I would have thought! Thanks.

Alas, I just had to loan/give $1200 recently that I may see back sometime next year. Ah well, 'till then. :(

Here I was ready to say damn the expense and order it. But Gunbroker.com doesn't have Bills on their FFL list. Every out-of-their-garage FFL in the entire Twin Cities metro area- but not Bill's. WTF?? Should I just order through the S&W website?

Most of those 'out-of-their-garage' /kitchen table FFLs will do a transfer for 1/2 the price of Bill's...which wants to sell guns, not do transfers.
If you order from S & W, you still must arrange an in-state transfer.

This.

I typically use Gun Stop in Minnetonka. They are in the GB system.

Okay, I am now officially a "gun nut": when you tell yourself "I'm a damn fool" and then go ahead and buy another gun anyway. Oh well, that's what charge cards are for.
