I have run several thousands of 200 gr SWC with zero issues through several of my 1911's, no problems at all. Westhope can testify to that, bet he has seen me shoot 1000 or so over the years in Faribault.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the feed issues were with the original spec'd feed ramps.

Could be mil spec issue, not sure. But shooting 1911's in Colt, Springfield Armory, Kimber, Les Baer, Ed Brown, Rock River, and STI that I can remember, no problems for me. My current carry, same for about 20 years is a Kimber PRO CDP, pre series II and I don't know really how many rounds of Speer Gold Dot I have run through that. I know over a case of Gold Dot, because I had to order smaller lots as of late.

I haven’t had any issues with LSWC ammo, but then I have never tried it in an older gun.

I have a vet’s WWII 1911.

Maybe Cobb and I should get together and try his and my guns with various ammo.

USGI 1911
Colt series 80 gold cup
Wilson combat high grade from the 90’s
Para ordinance early P14-45
Kimber match target

Maybe westhope has some older match type guns.

Maybe a series 70 government model?

The only 1911 I could not get to shoot 200 gr SWC bullets was a 3 inch Springfield. The only bullet it would shoot was 230 gr ball. It did not like any other style of bullets. I have a 3 inch Sig 1911 the handles the 200 gr SWC or most any other style of 45 bullet. I normally do not shoot the 3 inch 1911's much. I like the 4 inch Commanders.

The only 200 gr SWC bullet in my 1911's I could not get to feed reliably was a Hornady 200 gr fully enclosed jacketed SWC. The profile of the bullet is nearly identical to LSWC. I liked the bullet, but could not get it to feed reliably in my 1911's (Kimbers, Colts, Springfields, Sigs, Wilsons). I tried varying my reloads but would always get an occasional jam. I could never figure out why. Searching the internet, I found several others with the same problem with that bullet.

I've been shooting 200 gr SWC bullets for 30 years in IDPA & IPSC. I currently use Black Bullets International poly coated LSWC.

I do have a Colt Gold Cup 70 series. What I started shooting IPSC with. Used Leo's lead 200 gr SWC back then.

Yes, we should get together and shoot our 1911's.

If you remember, I use to shoot a 3 inch Colt Defender in the BUG matches, ran exact same 200 gr SWC in that as my other 1911's.

I've shot 200 gr LSWC out of my 70 series Colt Combat Commander back when I shot ISPC ( that's how old I am) when I lived in Hawaii with no problems at all.
